Umi Monogatari Review

Lord of Darkness, Shining like gold upon the Sea of Chaos
Stripey and I have informal anime exchange sessions. It works like this: the venue will be either one's home, each of us will choose two episodes of one anime series the other hasn't seen, both will watch all four chosen episodes together. The latest exchange was me pushing Bakemonogatari and Stripey pushing Umimonogatari; I think he got the better deal.
Hayate no Gotoku!! 22-25 and Review

Ep 22: Hina serves the plot hook and opening for Nagi's cafe arubaito
djwhack03 wittily used Hina's line from Ep 25 to ask if the second season of Hayate no Gotoku was "good". Frankly there's a lot of incommensurability between the worldviews of the many different viewers so a more useful framing might have been: "Did you enjoy it?" Nonetheless, in the course of answering the first question, many bloggers answered the second with great passion and eloquence.
Nodame Cantabile Paris Review
Gah, it's done! At the start, I was apprehensive because of the high blogging attrition rate for this series. IIRC common complaints were that the original material was butchered, the pacing was rushed/spotty and that the plot development was aimless. Having been amply forewarned, I somehow managed to overcome the first obstacle by not reading the manga, skipped lightly over the second by marathoning the show in a whole day sitting (rewatching it a second time at leisure to make the episodic blogging) and then reading the manga all the way to its most current scanlated chapter to drill through the heavens of the last big barrier.
Saki Review
When I started out with this series, I had great fun with taking all those Saki x Nodoka red cheeks, shiny thighs, blushing knees and magnifying the yuri goggles to the max. But this became somewhat redundant as the series progressed, with the yuri subtext - more or less - coming to the fore. Due to time pressures and being somewhat bored with the tournaments, I slacked off in terms of the timeliness of posting and then, when I did catch up, slacked off on the actual content before shifting to incorporate large elements of Kabitzin's posting style (which I will reflect on in a later post). The slacking off caused readership to suffer, that is, some bailed out and those who stayed didn't really get what they expected/wanted.
CANAAN Review
I had great expectations of this series but, by the third episode, it was clear that things were not going to be Kara no Kyoukai-level epic. I did enjoy the great fight scenes especially the toilet catfight, not less because of the combination of wet girls, ass grabbing and Alphard-oneesama's gorgeous evening gown.
