Sing till the dawn

I was LOL when Yuki took out the kiddie electronic keyboard with microphone. And when she started belting out 'Paradise Lost' against the simplified tune, I just lost it. Great seiyuu in-joke. And that Ga-Rei Zero OP song was my second favourite thing from the series. Other songs I'd love to hear on the Yuki Minfong Ho repetorie would be Junpaku Sanctuary, mokutt minami growing (LOL) and, of course, Yuki, Muon, Madobe nite. Suggestions for duet with Achakura?

But I was still surprised that a song from an anime by another studio (in this case, AIC Spirits & asread). Yeah I know KyoAni did that too for the Lucky Star EDs with the closed karaoke room door but I don't think those were recent anime. Paradise Lost was comparatively much more recent. Other animes, like Hayate no Gotoku, seem to take great pains only to sample its own music - minimize royalty payouts and maximize pimpage of own stuff?

Achakura comes to those who wait

Nyoron Churuya was pretty funny in 4koma form but it hasn't translated well into anime. But a new challenger has finally arrived! For me, Mini-Ryoko is the best thing about the Haruhi-chan series.

P.S. Belated comment on the long wait for Haruhi Season 2: Good things come to those who wait. Verily I sayeth unto you that Guinness is proof of evolution; much in the manner of how Beer is proof that God loves us and wants us to be happy.

P.P.S. Does anyone know what triggered Ryoko's Yuki flag in Disappearance?

The talent of Aya Hirano

I'm not a fan of Aya Hirano. While I think she's talented, I'm just not swept away by her voice acting the way I am by, say, Shizu-sama or Maaya Sakamoto. That said, I have enjoyed her work as Haruhi Suzumiya (megalomania ♥) and Shizu Shidou (Ijimekko~~) but, to date, my Top Favourite Aya Hirano role has to be Konata where she really made the role her own, conveying the chara's distinctive blend of otaku passion, family/friendship love power and :3

Aya-hatred will be proof of her talent if she continues to grow and prosper in spite/because of it. Another Ogiue lesson is applicable in Aaya's case methinks:

Real talent doesn't admit defeat after one little beating. If she truly does have talent, then the talent will show itself no matter how many beatings she takes. She's gotta be ready to be hated, beaten down, crushed and forgotten.
