2009 Moment of Anime 4: Wounds of Time

It was painful for everyone. But I had my hands full with myself. Those two... I had to help my family even if it was painful for me. But I couldn't turn around to face them even once!

My family wasn't bad enough to deserve dying like that. They weren't sinful enough to die like that!

Anime BGMs :: Non-Mio headphone test drive

I'm still learning to get the best out of my recently acquired ATH-ANC7. For starters, turning on noise cancelling for a fuller sound, regardless of background noise, bears out a common theme in the reviews. Also an excuse to post about the medley of favourite anime BGM tracks which I used for the headphone test drive as well as an aural pick-me-up. I have even less musical knowledge compared to dear sweet slothy Yui so corrections and level-ups will be much appreciated.

Ginme no Majo (Masanori Takumi | Claymore)

This background music track always reminds me Galatea's deliciously wicked musing as she walked off into the darkness of the forest towards the end of Ep 11. And also when Riful intervened against Jean's attempt coup de grace against Duff.

The dramatic drum beats right at the start are a great hook, thereafter the strings carried me to the embarking on a new adventure, announced by a triumphant brass section. The stirrings of mystery and conspiracy are heralded by piano keys against a background of bass notes and eerie synthetic animal-like calls. The various sounds come together, moving in and out, building into a crescendo that made such a great background to the above-mentioned scenes.

M19+20

Had been waiting for the Kara no Kyoukai OSTs to appear on Amazon.jp for ages. I might as well have been waiting for Godot. Only recently slowpoke.jpg realized, via canta per me, that the OSTs were only available with the DVDs.

I've bought Limited Edition DVDs before but this is the first time that I wanted the extra more than the DVD itself (my favourite so far is Paradox Spiral); I really enjoy the above-mentioned (post title) track so much - it's the BGM for the kick-off for the Shiki vs Fujino battle on the bridge and it's been replaying endlessly on my Winamp.

A baby step into figure photography

I love looking at photographs of anime figures but I've never tried to take any nice photos myself. First, I felt I didn't have the necessary equipment. Second, I didn't have any knowhow and didn't know where to start. But I've recently become the reluctant owner of a DSLR (Nikon D200) and trying to learn how to use it was the impetus for me to go read the tutorials over at HappySoda. This post shows a preliminary attempt to apply super rats' write-up on figure lighting.

Never mind the bollocks

All my bandwidth were belong to Kara no Kyoukai 5. Everything else went to the back of the queue over the six days (not including office hours since I use my personal laptop at work) the TYPE MOON/ufotable goodness dripped down the pipe through a really crap connection. How I envy Adun for having seen it on the big screen!

There's so much about it that I want to gush about but, at this point, I'd just like to respond to the query from Evirus about how I felt about Maaya Sakamoto voicing both Shikis.
