And sometimes an understanding silence is the best response. Sometimes it just adds to the weariness trying to explain to someone who couldn't possibly understand, not because of any lack of desire or defect of character, but simply because some things can only be fully understood with experience.

Fabulous scene especially when contrasted with the hand cranking of the salvaged tanks of the current era. And even then, with that level of magic-like technology, they did not prevail over the unnamed power.

Multi-limbed articulated spider-like tanks are probably more likely than bipedal humanoid robots in the future of warfare methinks. Much more stability and redundancy in the former kind of design.

Everyone hates having a decision made for them, just slightly more than having to make a decision and taking responsibility for it.

Seriously, Kanata is a very well written character. I was worried that she'd degenerate into a SUGOI Maria from the land of CANAAN but I was won over by what an open and honest heart she's got and how she instinctively manages to say exactly the right thing at the right time. Just one screencap ago, I was thinking "BAH! You couldn't possibly understand Filicia and just want to indulge yourself" but now I'm ashamed and realize how much better a person you are compared to me.

Princess Iria (no sora, UFO no natsu ), Kanata's inspiration, who wears a similar chime to Rio, is Rio's elder sister. Who is now deceased. That makes Rio related to Helvetian royalty. But then why is she just an NCO out in the inaka? Is she an illegitimate child and her late mother (social status can't be that low given the way Rio addressed her prayer with the same honorific as Iria) was hounded away thus her grudge against her father? Or she being allowed to stay there as a form of deep cover, security through obscurity? The visiting priest recognized her so she'd probably be well known in the capital. Will there a triumphal homecoming in the future or a well-earned quiet life in peace in the countryside?
