Evangelion 2.0 @ the movies with Wife-chan
“I thought Evangelion was all about Rei?”, quipped Wife-chan when I confessed to possible defection to the Rei camp after catching Eva 2.0. Yeah, Zyl would surely approve. Bishoujo allegiances aside, the occasional glimpses into Wife chan’s 2D perceptions were both enlightening and intimidating (Intimidating because I’m now not so certain house chores is ALL she’s doing as I blatantly drool over the 2D bishoujos in the living room.). Enlightening since her non-fan perspective coupled with fearsome woman intuition could be very revealing. I particularly enjoyed her point about Asuka having a better figure than Rei.
“Asuka’s butt is more pert.” She asserted. Her claim makes me want to catch the movie again. Well at least we both agree that -
1) It should be made criminal for 14 yr olds to have such figures.
2) Mari has the best figure in the movie.
It was also interesting to note Wife chan’s animosity towards Asuka. The tsuntsun and seemingly intrusion into Shinji-Rei relations did not sit well with her. (Apparently female-kind has a deep-seated hatred of anything remotely resembling 3rd-partying.)
“You wouldn’t have liked Asuka if you met her in RL. You’d hit on Mari.” Of course, Wife-chan was right but she did concede that I’d be still very “favourably disposed” to Asuka, given my penchant for pain weakness to beauty.
Still our consensuses about the movie far outweigh the differences. We both utterly loved the action (Eva sprinting and Mari in beast mode @ the top of the pile). We were both horrified @ the dummy plug incident and were holding back tears in the concluding scenes involving Rei.
Overall, Eva 2.0 has been an awesome movie experience. Thanks, in no small part, to Wife-chan’s witty insight and presence. Can’t wait for more Mari and Wife-chan goodness in Eva 3.0.

Does it matter to Ms. Stripey? She’s more worried about the lolicon than the fact Shinji could be related to her.. even though Lilith’s technically the mother of all mankind, IIRC.

Well, me think Stripey makes the right choice in Asuka. Even Shinji couildn’t prevent his hand from…err…moving on its own when he saw Asuka nip’.
That girl’s got curves and anyone who can resist should sign up for Pope.

Heh my defense would be that Asuka had a lot more personality compared to Rei in the TV series. Eva 2.0 weakens that factor since Rei develops a great deal more.
Since I’m a strong advocate of 2D bigamy (I’m staunch monogamist in RL though), I’d officially pick both (ie – cheat) as my equal favs in the Eva franchise
