[C77] Planning – Update 3

Will the battleground belong to Hitagi this time?

Will the battleground belong to Hitagi this time?

Zyl will enjoin the Battle of Ariake once more. *cue BGM* Plane ticket and service apartment booked.

Now I need the help of your collective wisdom.

Zi-Block: 西 つ13a (Nanoha)

I'm also interested in circles who will be presenting doujins on Bakemonogatari and Kara no Kyoukai - will greatly appreciate your tips and recommendations on which circles to look out for. Thanks in advance!

Probably should also find out what C77 limited edition goodies the various commercial booths will be offering.

I deeply regret not attending the Heisei Democracy meetup when I was at C72 - Shingo has, since Sep 2008, gone MIA. Any fellow anibloggers and readers who are interested in meeting up?

Would also love to pay a return visit to Washinomiya Shrine at 23:59 hours on 31 Dec 2009 to observe New Year's but I have a flight to catch the next day at noon and have no idea if the trains will run long enough to get back to Central Tokyo from Saitama after that.

Update 1: 14 Dec 2009

Have downloaded the CD catalog but not without a whole catalog of problems. The CDs were in cdi format so I tried to use Padus Disc Juggler's Demo Edition but I couldn't figure it out. Eventually I used IsoBuster's free version to open and unpack the cdi. Then burned them on CD-Rs and ran the install. But when I tried to run the Catalog Browser, it doesn't work and I have no idea why. And I can't access the #C77 channel. OTL

Doing it the old fashioned way now by going through the PNGs in the PDATA sub-directory.

Update 2: 16 Dec 2009

Thanks to big helpu from HatouKei, I can finally use the Catalog Browser (applocale: download, install workaround for Vista, usage - in Windows\AppPatch\AppLoc.exe. Updated some Day One stalls that have caught my eye.

Update 3: 17 Dec 2009

Small Call just published their list of yuri circles who are participating in C77.

  1. Damn maybe next time I will go with you Zyl!!! Always wanted to go to Comiket!

  2. Oh how I wish I could go to things like these. If only I didn’t live almost literally on the other side of the world :<

  3. There are CCS print pantsu for stripey

  4. If your still looking for someone to meet up with I’m going to be there on the 31st, though it will be my first Comiket

Also I was planning on going to visit Zi-Block myself

  5. Sounds great! I’ll try to firm up my plans after getting hold of the catalog CD (due out 12/12).

    • Should really try and get a copy of the catalog myself, but will probably aim for the paper one when I get there because I’ll have left the UK before anything arrives to me from Japan knowing my postal service.

  6. Hmm I’m also thinking of visiting Comiket 77 myself since I will be in japan around that time. Any advice for 1st timers such as myself?

    • It’s definitely worthwhile just to see it for yourself and to experience the atmosphere. If you don’t have any must get items then it will be more manageable to show up after lunch. If you are shopping, bring cash, lots of cash (buget about JPY 500-1,000 per doujin) and remember to save some for your ticket back home! (Or get a Pasmo).

  7. Well my shopping for this trip includes T2, Campus Life and Zi-Block – with hopefully, though not essentially – Key’s commercial booth, all on the 31st.

  8. Quite excited I get to go to 77. I got the catalogue working but obviously since I can’t read MoonRunes, I am merely going by circle, section, and booth/day. Don’t know what else I am looking at. I have a feeling this will be epic. :)

  9. I’ll be heading there too~ (another first timer).
Will be shopping for non-H yuri stuff (nanofate fluff by tokoharu FTW!).

Is it possible to survive comiket if you don’t speak much Japanese? I can read most manga and doujins fine but am at a loss when it comes to speaking the language. Too much listening/reading, not enough talking/writing. Keigo, sentence structure, etc is a mess. Orz.

As for the CD catalog, I believe the problem lies with the system locale for non-unicode programs in Vista/7. It just doesn’t work with the catalog. I played around with some settings and programs and finally got it to work (on XP, Vista and 7. Yes. I’m that free). Looking at your screenshot, I think you have vista but I’ll post the solution to all three anyway.

These are the general steps I took to get it to work. It’s getting lengthy so I left out the specific instructions. If you need any help, or if anyone needs me to post an idiot proof version (or I left smth impt out), feel free to ask.

    • Thank you so much, HatouKei!! Your advice worked a treat and I can use the catalog browser now! :D

I’m sure you won’t have any problems communicating – at C72, the dialogue in Lucky Star Ep 7 (where Konata goes to ComiKet) was about all that was needed.

    • Thank you for the how to – have now managed to get my maps printed for the table locations

  10. Nanoha the Movie 1st Project has a booth in the commercial section Number 111

  11. Thanks for the heads up and roger that, 西地区4階ブース111. (Good grief, I hate flash or whatever it is that prevents me from linking to the announcement page directly.)

A reason to join the first day morning queue! OTL

    • Unfortunately I don’t land in Tokyo until 4pm on the 30th so will have to make do with what ever they have left on the 31st

      • Also if you want anything from the Nanoha Movie stand plan on 6.000 yen or more for spending – thats the hoodie cost (may be my aim) the hugging pillows are 10.000 yen as is the bed spreed.

Cheapest thing is a special edition film ticket at 2.000 yen – will be seeing what they have when I get there.

  12. What, no plans for Umineko Chiru?
