Summary:

Ushio, with Kiyori, runs into Library-senpai and flees. Kiyori conveys a message from the latter (who now has a name - Nishigiki Chizuka); she wants to apologize and reconcile but Ushio seems distracted while Sumika gazes at her in Sad Puppy mode. While Sumika is filling Tomoe and Miyako on the back story, they see that Chizuka is clumsy and Tomoe wants to train Sumika. Up on the roof, Tomoe challenges Sumika to slip on a banana peel and Miyako gives provides Demonstration Alpha. It turns into a huge commotion with Masaki getting into the act. Ushio sees the fuss but leaves without joining in. After school, Ushio surprises Sumika by asking to come over to her house.

On the bus, Ushio says she doesn't have feelings for Chizuka anymore but it fails the Sumika polygraph test and it hurst her more because Ushio doesn't really want to be with her right now. Dinner with Sumika's father and three identiKen elder brothers is interrupted by the arrival of a new challenger. But with her father feigning a stomach ache and her brothers disappearing, Sumika has to step up to the plate. After destroying Zangief with a single blow, Ushio shows up in the bath, offering to wash Sumika's back who promptly faints from a nosebleed. Ushio likes the hustle and bustle of the lively and crowded Murasame household in contrast to the apartment with just her and her brother. Hearing Ushio sob under her blanket, Sumika slips and faceplants into Ushio's bust. Ushio feels she's terrible for loving and now avoiding Chizuka but Sumika vows to beat up anyone who speaks badly of her. Ushio delivers a DAISUKI attack though in a BFF sort of way Sumika is unable to sleep and spends the whole night doing martial arts kata. In the morning, Ushio brightly apologizes to Chizuka for missing their rendevous and clearly tells her about her feelings after getting courage from Sumika. After school, Sumika says she'll wait for Ushio.

Reaction:

Ushio continues to become a more sympathetic character. We've been shown her family life and now we're presented with the contrast to Sumika's - which Ushio really enjoys and does so like a gracious guest. She also shows us her more quiet and reflective side, quietly brooding over Chizuka throughout the episode without the type of self-indulgence that characterized her early skirt-chasing and delivered our first impressions, mostly negative, of her.

Poor Sumika - LOL at the passing commentary from Kiyori, Tomoe and Miyako - in the morning. She's stuck being the Supportive Best Friend and I'm all awww... with her sad lonely looks at Ushio which never quite go into emo territory, mostly because Sumika shows us her cool side as well as her silly side. And her hormonally charged teenager side - Ah! A heady feeling indeed with her face in Ushio's bosom!
