Old men in glasses versus young love limited

Both shows celebrate love in all its myriad imperfections but it's a foregone conclusion that Hatsukoi would be much more popular given the gorgeous girls featured in it in stark contrast to the middle-aged men of Paradiso (j1m0ne's EWWWWWW wrt the latter takes the cake in my book). Nonetheless kudoes, in particular, to Shounen A and Jesus159 for their useful and entertaining coverage of this less popular series.

I enjoyed Hatsukoi Limited for the beautiful charas (esp Saki-nee hawtness), the deft execution that gave humorous vigour to old cliches and sufficient closure. Like Divine, I enjoyed Ristorante Paradiso because my expectations were low, the characters were all charismatic and grew on me (even Nicoletta and Olga) despite a short eleven episode run and had good closure - my favourite has got to be Gigi with his sullen silence, keen perception and perpetual squirrel-like mouth pouch.

My main regret is that we're not shown the next stage - beyond the initial confession and getting together but, in that respect, Ristorante Paradiso already has a wealth of experience and we've already lived some of that history back to the future.

  1. I am glad to know that you also enjoyed Ristorante Paradiso

  2. *bows* It is an honor to receive kudos from you Zyl (which I don’t deserve because I’m so behind on that series! D:)

    I think Gigi gives off more of a Hamster-vibe, but that’s just me. A squirrel is fine too I guess. =3 When I finish blogging Ristorante Paradiso (which will take forever…) I’ll try to pimp out the show as much as I can, that is, if it ends on a good note :)

  3. Just think of the kudos as a (electric cattle) prod to encourage you to finish blogging this series. I certainly felt it ended pretty well. ;-)

    LOL squirrels, for me, are reserved for Nishizawa Ayumu in Hayate no Gotoku. And that smutty pun from Ebichu. Or Gates from FMP!TSR -_-;;
