There’s a lot going on here. E.g. I still don’t believe that Streseman is in some obscure Japanese college for nanpa, there has to be some bigger reason (foolish me, yes, this is animu but still…). Slightly perturbing that Nodame seems to have taken a back seat/comic relief role in Eps 4-6 too – can’t she do something to Chiaki break out his funk?

"Everyone including Kiyora is shocked to hear this." So good. But you definitely should avoid his retellings with all your strength. As for Chiyaki being the linchpin of the proceedings, it's true, but I think you're only scratching the surface. The "Chiyaki shikkakuuuu! New Leader Arrived!" thing was the straightforward part.
