Hayate no Gotoku!! 6

Hina rescues sad girly boy in snow.

Seems that Hayate has some serious blocks (and the usual bad timing) to prevent Hina from decisively triggering his flag. But the potential is shown to be there in a way that we only saw briefly wrt Maria-san right at the beginning of the series.

Haha, I loved Shana's 'Stop it, mom! You're embarrassing me!' reaction to Wilhelmina's antics. Not as much mileage here but still pretty sweet.

A flustered Hina is fine too. Manga was clearer that this outbreak was mainly triggered by her mom's 'boyfriend' question. She recovered pretty quickly in the morning and during her coffee can attack in school. I'm just wondering if all this is seeding for something in the (distant) future of the story or just momentary and transient bits thrown in for entertainment...

Even if Hayate's flag for Hina has not (left out this crucial word earlier) been triggered, it's clear that he is sensitive to how he thinks she sees him and would very much like to win her approval of him as a person at least. And all this without even knowing her back story...

Hina + uniform + apron is more win than Hina + home clothes + apron from dinner scene.

And if there's only one reason to watch SHUFFLE!, it's for the empty pot scene. Thankfully, Hina's is not.

I've grumbled about misunderstanding as a plot device and humour source before but this works nicely and was timed perfectly. Though for a show that often breaks the fourth wall, it's a convenient time for the charas not to be able to see the thought bubbles on the side. ;-)

A bit surprised that Miki didn't know that Hayata-kun was staying at Hina's since she doesn't just have the ninja-like ability to pop up out of nowhere but also has fantastic intel gathering capabilities. IIRC there was a scene in the manga when she even knew the print pattern on Hina's panties for the day. And as we all know, Hina wears hotpants to school so it's not just a simple matter of peeking.

BTW the Miki (-3-) x Hina (-_-;;) scene on the cover of Vol.19 of the manga was very intriguing indeed...

Heroine (of paperwork) mode on!

No embarrassment despite the hand touching. And yet, from the next episode preview, we'll get major red faces and head steam when their hands accidentally touch over the tea pot. Environmental factor? (i.e. in school corridor versus Home Alone)

Awww, they cut the part where Nagi walks in on Maria-san and asks her about her weird cosplay and Maria-san's 'It's not cosplay!!' response.

There are meganekkos and there are meganekkos.

????? sounds like something under TT's purple tag. LOL I don't suppose there's already HnG Maria-san doujinshi out there using that title?

  1. Boy am I looking forward to episode 7.

Though for a show that often breaks the fourth wall, it

  2. What I found particularly notable here was the parallel in the story – when I read this part in the manga, I knew that Hina was destined to be a full contender. Again, Hayate is despairing out in the cold night, and again someone was there to rescue him – this time Hina.

I’d say that the main point of her nightly pondering was to indicate that she was genuinely confused. Contrary to what others have written elsewhere, I don’t think that Hina is in love with Hayate yet. And her inner monologue proves that. She is _confused_. Hayate is on her mind, but she can’t figure out why. Romantic attraction? She thinks no, he’s not her type (hah!). So why does it bother her so much?

Hina’s gradual development of feelings toward Hayate is one of the highlights of the show. Definitely looking forward to this in the upcoming eps. The anime DOES alter things a bit – in the manga, Hayate triggers irritation in Hina much more often, and she’s much quicker in aiming her anger at Hayate. We’ll see about that in the (certainly epic) ep7.

Thanks for the find of the Hayate19 cover, Miki leaning in like that is tooooo cute. Let’s keep in mind, she’s the one from the terrible trio who actually had choco for Hina. She’s the one who’s literally PERSECUTING Hina with her camera. Heck, in the very latest manga chapter 223, she essentially goes renegade on Hina, teaming up with the “evil side” to force Hina to strip down to her Mizugi. In essence, Miki has a clear crush on Hina, she adores her. Too cute for words at times ^_^

Finally, the touching hands: Yes, they didn’t blush like mad. If anything though, the touch took longer than “normal”. Throughout the story, they _like_ to touch (though sometimes it’s embarrassing to them). Around chapter 216/217, Hina pouts a little when Hayate runs holding hands with Nagi and Ayumu – as silly as it sounds, she wanted to do that, too. It’s worth keeping this in mind throughout anime and manga: Touch between Hina and Hayate is an issue.

Though, if it ever comes to down a Hina yuri pairing, while Miki would indeed be a top candidate, I think Ayumu would give her a serious run for her money given how close she’s become with Hina. Just fan delusion speculation here… :D

Completely agree on the pleasure of the gradual development of Hina’s feelings. Like fine wine aging. Though not that slow. Haha. The pacing in the anime seems better than the anime so far though. Less sidetracking and, given the ED, JC Staff seems to understand what viewers want. All hail ECH AYE AN EHH HINAGIKU!!

    @ Bill

Hina’s development (of feelings for Hayate) is certainly BESTO. Followed by Nagi. I think Hamster’s is alright as we get to see some to-ing and fro-ing and some good communication. But Saginomiya Isumi… Maria-san is, by default, part of the harem but she isn’t really in love with him though…

  4. Isumi WAS a supposedly part of Hayate’s harem. It is just that after the Fake-Kidnapping incident, it looks like she has not been in any part of harem lately. But I wish that she will be in Wataru’s waifu list.

Maria may be a part of Hayate’s harem but she acts more like an onee-san figure.

  5. well… several minutes ago, I was reading a tax article, about avoidance rule…
hmm.. I don’t know why i stopped here. but i guess it’s fine then. hmm, good pics of hina and maria there!!!
