Hinagiku no Gotoku S2 :: Ep 1
Calawain writes:
The first episode did not disappoint, ladies and gentlemen, there’s plenty of Hina to go around.
I shed tears of relief and joy after confirming the good news with mine own eyes.
Notes are based on the Eclipse sub timing. (Can someone tally up how much glorious Hina time we had?)

00:38 Nagi's possessive hold on Hayate shows that she feels threatened. But definitely not by Hamster. But Ayumu is a serious block in Hinagiku's mind. Great to see that how the OP encapsulates the dynamics between the charas so succinctly in one frame. And how Maria-san Watches Over Them.

00:42 - 00:57 LOL, Evangelion OP reference? Wow, that was a lot of Hinagiku time in the OP. So relieved that we'll be getting to see the crucial Hina Birthday arc which is crucial in the confirmed triggering of her Hayate flag.

07:45 - 9:25 ?? :: Nagi's threat perception is pretty decent but the execution of her counter strategy needs work lol

12:25 - 13:15 I completely sympathize with Miki. And even Nagi. I hated how the sporty types liked to impose their standards on the rest of us. Given how revenge is a dish best served cold, there's something really satisfying seeing the former jocks become paunchy and breathless as we hit the mid-30s.

16:35 - 17:10 I didn't think about this when reading the manga: Taking the shortcut doesn't seem very Hina-like. I suppose it's out of consideration for Miki. The conflicting imperatives of wanting to win versus going the whole hog. 'I'll protect you' (17:04) - no wonder Hina gets chocolate from girls during Valentines. Yes, indeed it was unfair. Though I doubt Hina was deliberately using her charm on Miki.

19:25 - 21:30 Hina is the Final Boss! LOL at how her defiant speech against Team Sanzenin was interrupted by Miki's pleas for medievac. This is the type of humour that I enjoy most in the series that occasionally makes brilliant appearances in the manga, another example in this episode was Hayate and Nagi's touching moment at the start of the race was interrupted by the race steward telling them everyone else had started already.

22:12 Where did that screen come from? I am slightly disappointed that the anime cut out the requirement that each pair defend their team rose; it was the plot device that gave us an insight into Miki's love for Hina.

22:45 - 24:11 Of course I was over the moon with the Hina ED too.
Kurogane interpreted it as a sign that:
Looks like the producers have realized the true star of the series, wwwwwwwwwwww.
And yet the OP leaves us in no doubt that this is firmly a Hayate x Nagi show. Nonetheless I'll consider it Good Job and Well Done if we can get all the manga Hina arcs done with similar pacing and relative faithfulness.

Your post made me rewatch the Hinagiku ED again. And again. And again. And again. And– well you get the drift.

Hurr, told ya so! Hinagikuism is revived ^_^
We should be on a consecutive episode track at least until Hayate redeems himself as a butler. There should be relatively little Hina next time (though I hope for her angry outburst scene), but episode 3 should be epic again! Sooo looking forward to her retribution mode!

I have yet to finish the first series but the Hina ed made me swoon.

Guys, after ep2 I’m already willing to commit: We have a winner here.
J.C.Staff is doing an _excellent_ conversion of the manga material. Very close to the original, very true to the original art. And since S1 already vacuumed away alot of the single-shot “filler” eps, I have the feeling that we’ll get an expedited ride through all the good stuff.
I’m absolutely delighted ^_^ … like a dream come true!
