The moral of Chiaki's Tanuki Story

is that you can get away with anything if you're cute. Such as BEING FRIENDLY with lolis. Chiaki's tanuki story was a great rejoinder to Kana's tanuki story; I also love it because it just fuels the mystery of whether Chiaki knows about Mako-chan's real identity - personally I'm leaning towards the school of thought that says she knows but ignoring it simply because the status quo is such great fun.

The Ep 7 Random Curiosity post also provides welcome confirmation of the return of jaalin to active duty. Hurrah!
In other news, I always have the greatest respect for Evirus' views but his rating of Maria+Holic does not compute:
Maybe that doesn't matter if you have a thing for transvestites and lesbians, but I found it dull.
The problem, for me, with Maria+Holic is that it needs MOAR Mariya and MOAR Kanako Lesbian Fantasy. Heck, as Totali so pithily observed, even Minami Ke Okaeri has become
Even more traptastic than Maria Holic!

Pulling the tanuki’s tail… sounds like an H-doujin!
I’d disagree with Evirus on his site but he has no comments. Maria Holic has been much better than I expected (and better than the manga in general), and not that many jokes hinge on yuri or traps (surprisingly). I also noticed that Mariya barely appears most of the time. You’d think when the series is sorta named after you, you’d get more time! They should just name it Kanako Holic.

Still calling it a raccoon. Because I am lazy and don’t want to admit defeat.

Mako-cakes has had much more time to become the trap that he is while Mariya has not taken us to new heights of brokeness yet. Let’s not forget that it was only recently that we have had much justification for Mariya hanging around President Kanako. Also the more Mariya you get the less of a chance Kanako has of making her yuri powered fantasies into reality at Ame no Kisaki.

The problem with Maria Holic is that, even without Maria, the series would have been quite good. So that’s why Maria hasn’t got much billing because really, they don’t need her. Once the Kanako jokes start getting stale, I predict we’ll see much more of Maria.

Keep Stripey away from Chiaki.

Methinks Chiaki had him figured out more or less from the start and just went along because, quote, “Does Mako-chan even have the spirit to be a boy?”

@ Kabitzin
Maria+Holic seems to have evoked the Nattou Reaction – people either seem to love it or hate it. And I’ve been surprised by how much some that I thought would like it have hated it e.g. Baka-Raptor.
@ totali
Raccoon dog! Though I’d also cheer for the Red one (Sakaki’s team) along with Kaorin.
@ Epi
I think it’s to Shaft’s credit that while Kanako jokes could easily get stale, they haven’t so far. The visual flourishes and the voice acting as well as the tsukkomi from Mariya+Matsurika have certainly helped.
@ Crusader
So do you think they’re going to pair Mariya and Kanako up??

Ah, thanks for the manga note. Yappari!
