Choice harems, Stripey's picks
White Album has clinched the much coveted attribute of 'Choice Harem' on The Tanuki's anime list. This happens when the Striped One deems 3 or more girls within the harem setup to be worthy of pursue. WA was elevated to such an exalted position via the combined charms of Rina, Yuki and Mana. And so, this is my excuse to pimp the other 'Choice Harems' on my list with my personal pick of the choicest haremette. The list packs a few surprises since tanuki-favourites like Da Capo and Kiminozo didn't make the cut due to lack of worthy bishoujos. Here presenting my choice harems (worthy haremettes in brackets).
Zero no Tsukaima (Louise, Siesta and Henrietta)
Stripey's pick - This is a tough one. After all Louise and Siesta was on my dilemma list and Henrietta could help me snag all. Sigh, I suppose it'd have been be Louise if it comes down to just one.
Shakugan no Shana (Shana, Kazumi and Konoe)
Stripey pick - Kazumi. Ha! I didn't pick the lolicious ones... for once... XD
True Tears (Hiromi, Ai and Noe)
Stripey's pick - Hiromi. After rewatching TT, I realised I'd even pick Ai over Noe. However if Noe was my sister...
Code Geass (Shirley, Kaguya, C.C and Anya)
Stripey's pick - Kaguya. That fact that she's pro-polygamy so how enlightened she is.
Fate/Stay Night (Saber, Rin, Sakura and Ilya)
Stripey's pick - Sakura. She's likely to be the only one useful around the house.
Kanon (Nayuki, Ayu and Shiori)
Stripey's pick - Shiori. Imouto moe BANZAI!!
Otome wa Boku ni Koishiteru (Shion, Takako, Mariya and Kana)
Stripey's pick - Shion. There. Is. No. Contest.
Seto no hanayome (Luna, San, Akeno, Ren and Mawari)
Stripey's pick - Luna. It would have been San if not for her MANLY getup in one of the later eps. It has the same effect of seeing Luna papa in sailormoon cosplay.
Shingetsutan Tsukihime (Arcueid, Akiha, Hisui, Kohaku and Satsuki)
Stripey's pick - Hisui. Has always been and will forever be.
SHUFFLE! (Asa, Kaede and Primula)
Stripey's pick - Primula. Trust Stripey-nii when he says a youthful looking wife goes a looong way.
Sola (Aono, Matsuri and Mana)
Stripey's pick - Aono. Light hair bishoujos rocks.
Tokimiki Memorial ~ Only love ~ (Sayuri, Mina and Tsukasa)
Stripey's pick - Mina. I blame imouto-moe again.
Da Capo II (Otome, Yume and Nanaka)
Stripey's pick - Otome. It's a tough one since I traditionally support the imouto and have strong affiliations with pink haired bishoujos.
Clannad (Ryou, Kyou and Tomoyo)
Stripey's pick - Kyou. It'd be Mei if it was Tomoya she liked.
Hayate no Gotoku (Nishizawa, Hinagiku and Izumi)
Stripey's pick - Hinagiku. By a loooooong stretch.
And finally...
White Album (Rina, Yuki and Mana)
Stripey's pick - Rina. It's a no-brainer. Of course for Touya, Yuki's still best for him.
Can't wait for Mana to topple Rina on this chart.

Kaguya is pretty awesome, but I still like Shirley best out of all the Code Geass gals.
Fate/Stay Night is Rin. She’s easily my favorite by a long shot.
At least I can agree with you for Clannad. Kyou is win~
Oh and I guess White Album too. Rina is the only one with a properly functioning brain, save perhaps Mana.

true tears – noe ftw… i was greatly saddened by your switchover to the hiromi camp…
fate/stay night – rin is the way to go here… she’ll gladly sacrifice a very precious jewel to save you + the fact that you can watch her activities with saber when you want to …

ZnT- I think Kabitzin expressed my feelings about Louise in that post. Henrietta is my pick.
SnS – Shana is the ONLY valid choice there.
TT – Ai, the towel scene was one of the most touching scenes in anime imo.
CG – IS there any choice there? C.C of course. Has wits, sharp riposte, great body and can give you power to control other people.
F/SN – I never got into the whole love for F/SN characters. If I had to pick I guess it would be Saber.
Kanon – Though one! Nayuki, Shiori and Mai are my favorites and I really can’t decide which one I like most. I think in the end it would be Shiori but I can’t say im happy with that choice. All 3 of them deserve equal love.
SHUFFLE! – Asa vs Sia. I think I’d pick Sia in the end because of her wonderful 2nd personality
Sola – Matsuri, no brainer here. Aono while lovely was a bit too obsessed for my liking.
Clannad – Well for me the best girl of Clannad will always be Tomoyo but Kyou is only half a step behind her so I can understand your choice here.
HnG – “Hinagiku. By a loooooong stretch.” Nothing to add here.

Love Hina – Motoko (first love of harem anime genre)
Ai Yori Aoshi – (no pick, I really never got attached to anyone but Chika’s bashful non-swimming friend who really didn’t figure in the main plot)
Canvas 2 – argh… Tomoko or Hagino? …. must… kill self… can’t choose.
Kanon – Mai … yeah, just Mai.
SHnY – Haruhi herself…
Shuffle! – Nerine …. good god, Nerine. No it wasn’t the boobs, she could have been flat for all I cared. Ears, eyes, and electric fireball…
Tokimeki Memorial – Mina for the win….
Clannad – Tomoyo
Negima! – Probably Kaede with Mana right behind her… but then there’s about a dozen more possible…
There are others from actual harem anime but not really popping into mind…. I’ve kind of phased from harem anime – prefer couple or triangle romances (TMP – Hazuki, REC – Ai, Yotsuba – Fuuka, Karin – Maka, etc). Also many non-romances but rich in female wonder could be polled (e.g. Lucky*Star – Kagami, Azumanga – Sakaki).

I have very unfortunately seen Season 2.
My lament is how the story got hijacked by a couple of characters that the audiences didn’t care for. So they shelf the Louise-Saito developments until the last 2 eps for an impactful but not quite coherent end. Sigh. The Tristani harem deserves better XD Thankfully I haven’t seen season 3 and have no plans to so far. But I hear Tabitha gets good screentime..
