Hontouni fund-raising – PVC daughters for display cabinet
As a firm believer and strong advocate of unleashing the glory of your PVC beauty (ie opening and displaying your PVC purchases), it's with deep shame that I must admit my PVC collection has been banished to the wardrobes for more than a year already. My excuse? No suitable display shelves/area.
I know, that's not a good reason to imprison your daughters in dark and cold places (which incidentally are conditions favourable for PVC). In fact, many a kind folk have pointed me to Ikea's Detolf which I thought was a great bargain though ultimately unsuitable for a homogenous collection like mine (mostly 1/8 figures). So it was with great excitement when I spied upon the Bertby during a recent excursion to Ikea. Originally a wall-mounted cabinet for DVD/CD storage, it's configurable to a figure display unit for a relatively affordable S$149. The catch - Assembly and wall mounting cost no included.

I had initially intended to get 2 Bertby (which would be able to house up to 40 1/8 PVC figures) but was shaken to learn of the transport/assembly/wall mounting cost - S$100. A whooping 30% of the purchase. Curse my 2 left thumbs and their ineptitude with the hand-drill.
After fretting over the unforeseen cost, my wife came up with a most brilliant solution -
I'm going to ignore the 'ALL' in her suggestion and release some of my lesser loved/spare figures for more worthy masters.

All except Fate are 2nd hand though everyone is in pristine condition. Oversea buyers are welcomed too though shipping charges would be at your expense.
Hesitate no more! Free my PVC pretties! Contribute to the cause by alleviating my costs! (Donations are welcomed too. Donation above S$50 would have one of the shelves named after them.)
Incidentally, I'd like also to let go of my Sister Princess and Rahxephon (legit Taiwanese R3 licenses) DVDs at much less than half their original price. Drop me a note/comment if you're keen.
PS: If you have a cheaper/better way of displaying figures, pls pass on the wisdom and save me the bittersweet pain of 'marrying off' my plastic daughters! XD

Building your own display cabinets is part of the fun.
I know I experienced a great deal of satisfaction when I finally assembled my most recent display cabinet.
Natch.

come on stripey, it is one of the duties of being a man and get splinters in hand and hit your thumb with a hammer. go built that thing on your own. The finish product might be lopsided but hey at least you can say.
“I built it”

Skane/Xellos-_^ : heh actually I don’t mind building the cabinet itself. Assembly should be simple enough.
It’s the wall mounting that troubling. If it’d weren’t for my precious figures, I’d attempt mounting with my 2 left legs…
But for my beautiful daughters… I just can’t house them in a palace short of perfection.
Imagine my figures leaning because my cabinet was crooked
P
The Sojourner: Over my dead… erm figures XD If you’re keen, you can get them from Chinatown point – Hypermedia. Going for S$147 6 DVDs
Of course you’d have to endure Chinese subs.

If I had money I’d help out, but my only other advice is to get a friend who does construction or see if your old conscript buddies had a Damage Controlman or Engineer among them for installation. My dad did construction but he lives across an ocean from you. You could try learning how to use a level or a laser level and a hand drill. I did stage crew back in the prehistoric age a drill is not that hard to use, leveling is the hard part.
It’s freaking IKEA furniture its meant to be disposable.

Wow. You’re selling Fate away? THE Alter Fate?
I’d rather build my own cabinet than sell that away.

Crusader: Spoken as one who knows the trade! indeed the leveling is the challenging part. I think I’d just pay Ikea the 100 bucks to do it for me.
Vexx/Kurogane: Heh, this Fate I’m letting go is Fate no. 3. I still holding on to 2 and have been advised strongly by both waifu and Zyl to finally let it go
Yeah even if she’s no. 3, it pains me greatly to see her go. XD
jinyamato: Char as in

Bro, glad to see you’re finally willing to let go of one of your Holy Trinity of Fates. Having one spare is also very luxurious. Make another fellow fan happy by sharing the Alter Fate love!

Alter Fate is the only figurine and I own, and I would never part with her! But you can be forgiven (or hated) because you have 3.
