Nanoha As DVDs – AWESOME revisited

It's been almost 2 years since I last revisited Nanoha As. Mainly because I didn't possess a copy of the series, thanks to some botched backups. That changed when I acquired the Taiwanese R3s (6 discs for $150) last Thursday. I've marathoned the series 3 times since.

However, I've learned not to watch Nanoha As in my wife's presence since it's hard to convince her that the ~~boner~~ bleeding nose was from Nanoha pumping 5 cartridges into the Tome of Darkness and not the preceding transformation scenes. It's also mandatory to read jpmeyer's AWESOME post after every rewatch. Now, that's anime TRUTH.

Now to share this TRUTH with my anime-uninitiated friends who think Nanoha As is pedo-pandering.

Of the three seasons of Nanoha, Nanoha A’s was definitely my favourite. I second (or third) the statement that A’s is pure awesomeness. Maybe I should get my hands on the R2 dvd’s …

THAT WALLPAPER! I must have such awesomeness!

That said, I fourth the sentiment. I have to watch Lyrical on Fire periodically or suffer acute A’s withdrawal symptoms. Sometimes it’s not enough, and I have to marathon Original and A’s. I’m not complaining.

The word awesome doesn’t even begin to describe A’s. It is one of the best series ever and best magical girl ever.

A’s started off with a loud crash, thump, and then lots of bang …. and roared at top speed for most of the series. No girly stuff here … a generally great series.

I take very careful care of my fansubs since the damned distributors can’t seem to walk and chew gum here in R1-land.

jpmeyer: I suppose it depends on what you say. “YES MY MASTER” and “I CAN BE SHOT” may invoke varying responses from wives depending on the situation. XD

nckl: The reason I don’t get R2s is because it’s hard to use them in anime-evangelism and we all know how Nanoha As is an AWESOME tool for converting the largely unanimed masses

vexx: Actually i thought there were some nice girly stuff between the flashy bing-bangs which was a real nice accompaniment to the breakneck action

Ah. Back then I was not able to comprehend GAR in shows like Gatekeepers but now I quiver in fear and awe whenever the manly powah smacks me on the face. Gonna marathon Nanoha and Nanoha A this weekend.

LOVE THE NANOHA SERIES. I’m serious, I was a big fan to a point I was obessed with Fate and Vita!!! Wait, I’m still obessed, but not as much. Right now, trying to get the figures of Fate and Vita!!! I’ve watched the series god knows how many times. I always made sure i was alone…
