3 ani-manga community building endeavours

I almost never get requests to publicise events or sites but this week I had 3. Since all 3 activities contribute to ani-manga fandom in general, here's some tidbits for those interested.

Fan History

Fan History is a fan run wiki dedicated to preserving fan history. They have an anime segment (which includes a sub category - anime blogs) and are requesting greater fan-based input. I've always thought it's be great if, for example, the history of anime blogs were formally documented so that aniblog founders like Jascii, Momotato and Jeff Lawson would be accredited their pioneering efforts to the anime community or retired/semi-retired bloggers such as David, Moyism and Matthew be remembered for their invaluable contributions to The PassionTM.

Tokyopop Manga Mashup contest

I don't do manga really but I couldn't turn down Fred's polite and personalised request. Kabitzin and Rachel have more details on the contest. It ends on 23 Mar so get those creative juices flowing and head over to download those kits for that manga music video ASAP! :)

The inaugural anime blogs award

Our very own Oscars! It's a pity they don't have the Most misunderstood-siscon blog else I might earn at least a nomination. I have a pretty good idea whom I would be nominating and voting for each category. Nope I'm not telling since voting is SECRET, just like my age.... I mean the number of stripes on my tail. Head over and nominate now!

  1. Does the number of stripes on your tail reflect your age like rings on a tree? The Fan History page looks neat too, although they don’t seem to have a blog section yet.

  2. Oops, my bad. I thought I found it but returning now, I don’t see a blog section too. I’ll highlight this as a suggestion to the webmaster. Thanks for pointing it out! :)

  3. We’re going to find out who you’re nominating for anyway, so you might as well come clean with that now. :D Thanks for highlighting it!

  4. Heh, will post my list when I firm up on all the nominations. :) Currently scratching my head over most influential and most thought provoking categories. Got CAT and SS!AB down for something too. And no, it’s not because you guys bribed me with comments on this post XD

  5. As for early blogging, i always thought Ryan Matthews “Last Exit” back in old old days on Anipike qulify as a sort fo early forerunner for anime blogs. Ryan touch on many different aspect of the fandom at the time and i always was the most insightful of any other anime columinst. But then again there weren’t that many back in the mid-90s.

  6. Nice to meet you. It is smile.
The blog of “Japan Animation mania” to introduce Anime of Japan was started.
Please come to see at any time.
And, please link to my site.
    It comes ..then…
