Bamboo Blade staaato! ~ Tama chan is love

Can't. stop. watching. Bamboo. blade. I blame Zyl for getting me started. However, unlike him, BB's hook for me wasn't yandere MiyaMiya but the lolicious Tama. As an accomplished swordman myself (AD&D Fighter level 19 circa 1993), I acknowledge her powress and hope that I'd be able to challenge the legendary Tama stab some day. Also hoping that my +5 2-handed sword of loli-piercing (as bestowed by my ever-enterprising dungeon master Zyl) would help me fend off the fearsome attack. Meanwhile she can join my sentai.
Now back to marathoning ep 8.

And yes, it really does get better.

Much love for Tama-chan, but much love for Kirino as well.

Just wait till you see how extremely ota she is.

I also like tama more than miya. for me, the main appeal for bamboo blade is tama
you need to put 3x hydra card to that +5 2handed sword of loli piercing
(you are referencing to ragnarok online right? :p)

sword of loli-piercing
…I feel like a very bad person reading the line the way I did… XD
And to *almost* redeem this comment, I should pick up on this anime based on all the coverage the Hontouni crew’s been giving it

Ron: No, he’s referencing real D&D, whose non-epic level weaponry enhancements only go up to +5 (technically enhancements can go to +10, but the actual damage and to-hit modifiers only go to +5, since what’s left is for other abilities like Keen, Holy, etc.).

Thanks for the camaraderie of Tama love! And yes, it’s an Advance Dungeons and Dragons reference. Now I feel ancient XD

My Favorite AD&D Character was a 25th level Magic-User. Do I smell sentai/RPG party post somewhere?

Kirino is awesome , especially when she is worried about her mom, Tama is the strength and Kirino is the heart …. what does that make the rest? heh
February 22nd, 2008 - 10:25
Wtf, it’s all about Kirino and her “83″ face! Though I do admit that Tama is awesome. This hasn’t been covered enough in the blogosphere despite being consistently epic, and I guess its consistency is to blame as much as anything, since I seem to be constantly at a loss for words whenever I sit down to attempt and write about it.
Oh, and Stripey? Welcome to the club. About time you started on this! (:

At the danger of derailing (TM by Jason Miao) the topic, my personal accomplishment is that of a Fighter 4/Paladin 8/Divine Champion 5/Planar Champion 9, all at the end of D&D 3.5. My only official Epic-level character (meaning played by myself for the whole campaign and not pregenerated at that level). My personal favorite, however, a a humble Paladin 8… Too bad WotC had to come out and say that old characters are virtually unconvertable to 4th edition, and will have to summarily retired… *seethes*
*coughs*
I’m a latecomer to Bamboo Blade as well, but I’m liking what I’m seeing so far. Then there’s Dan-kun and Miya-Miya… O_o

Can you guys believe that just now I’m swallowing iDOLM@STER Xenoglossia? I like Bamboo Blade but for some strange reason I avoid watching it (same with Rental Magica, Sketchbook and GHOST HOUND

maglor: heh my party disbanded before we broke level 19 and it took us 5 years to get to get there
I think the lvl 18 mage in our party could barely just manage a prismatic spray
Would love to have a sentai rpg post… still thinking about how to go about it.
voodoomage: nice personifications.
miyamiya’s the personality? Saya’s kind of bland at the moment though…
Owen S: heh, in fact for a moment in ep 7, I thought of Hikaru no Go while watching BB and that’s huge. It’s interesting how boring mechanics of kendo can make for some intriguing plot just like a seemingly tedious game of GO can make such compelling tales.
Myssa Rei: Woah I never progressed to further editions of AD&D. I believe I stopped at edition 2. XD As for MiyaMiya and Dan-kun, I’ve always imagines their children to either be retards or serial killers. But as the series progresses, I’m liking Dan kun more and more as he displays knowledge and acts kindly to MiyaMiya.
Sherman, the Ramni: I’m not sure about the rest but Rental Magica is worth a watch if you’re not particular about a strong central overarching plot. The world is rich and the characters are well thought out. I need to catch Xenoglossia sometime.

Slow to message for this but …god, quickly watch to the latest few episodes. You will worship her.
even more.

I’m up to ep 18 and Tama is my idol! Blade Braver possession FTW! XD
March 1st, 2008 - 17:04
I’m probably actually ancient (being able to claim an actual dungeon crawl using 1st edition rules in the late 70s).
but damn you for combining the D&D reference with the loli-Tama pic along with one of my favorite archetypes: kendo-girls.
I had successfully avoided this series being overwhelmed and backlogged with TrueTears, Kimikiss, Shigofumi, ARIA, Clannad, Sketchbook, and particularly Wolf&Spice.
Now you’ve forced me to go torrent a whole other series… argh.

Yup, bamboo blade is humourous in a subtle way. In that sense, its really awesome
Tamaki is sooooo cute. Seems like big round eyes formula is compatible on Tamaki.
omg, u all still play ADnD? Its the age of the MUD already. wtftheresmmorpg?

vexx: Heh, Tama would be the classic paladin in AD&D. Lawful good and impossibly righteous. As for your backlog, wow there’s nothing more exciting and a treasure trove of anime waiting for you to dig in. Many a great series on that list. I’d be shouting “itadakimasu” soon if I were you
crimson: great to hear from you again! I’m enjoying BB mainly for the humour and character interaction/charm. Kirino is growing on me so much too with the last few eps. I actually like Reimi but I suspect that’s because I enjoy every of Nakahara Mai’s psycho roles XD

Actually, we play AD&D, and RPGs, and MM0s … the roleplay has gotten fairly pathetic in MMOs. I think the last MMO where I felt like most people were acting their part was a post-nuclear corporate-nihilist MMO called Neocron (and that’s mostly because it could be in-character to be a 1337-speaking llama jerk
).
Call me when Vent has a voice-modulation function so that nightelves don’t sound like burly truckers and rugged dwarves don’t sound like 11 year olds or Big Male Trolls with little girl voices. Vent as it is now is just pure evil.
Pardon me, whilst I return to staring wistfully at pictures of Tama
March 3rd, 2008 - 19:22
Haha! I understand that there are servers on World of Warcrack that you’d need to be in character all the time. Not sure if there’s any repercussions for acting otherwise though. I don’t roleplay much when I was playing the paper and dice AD&D cos I’m as a paladin in RL… nah… XD I do talk about justice and righteousness a lot though

From one Dungeons and Dragons player to another, I ask that you join me in commemorating the passing of one of its creators.

A min of silence for the man who gave me much fond memories of heroism and fun during my teenage years.
Thanks sixten for the highlight.
