[Artbook] MEGAMI Creators vol. 10 – Paradise lost

I never knew what MEGAMI Creators was all about. Unimpressed with its debut years ago, I had written it off as yet another diabolical attempt at relieving us of hard-earned cash. What a 2D philistine I was! Having received enlightenment with Zyl's gift this year, I finally understood the slice of heaven I forsook and mourned the 9 lost issues of MEGAMI Creators.

The main hurdle for any young acolyte wanting to be initiated into the breathtaking world of 2D art is the Japanese language. Despite owning anthological artbooks like Girls Girls Girls! and K-books playing deck (which puts a name to the art you enjoy), my inability to translate kanji names prevented me from deepening my knowledge on the artists I love. MEGAMI Creators removes this considerable barrier by simultaneously romanjinising the artists names and providing their official websites. Here's 5 artists featured in this issue.

Mitha

Yukiusagi

Ikegami Akane

Senomoto Hisashi

An indispensable resource to any 2D bishoujo enthusiast. Am also using it as a catalog/template for daughter-manufacturing. XD

Edit: Scans of the volume 10 can be find over at Hunting the Elusive.

  1. Erm…good thing your wife has a good sense of humor?

    “I want this type!”
    “Ok! Let’s get started!”

  2. Wow, I really like that TTGL/NGE/Top wo Nerae! pic by co2a (:

  3. Senomoto Hisashi seems like the person who’s behind AXL’s character designs and CGs! And I see Fortune Arterial on the first pic samples! Also the works of some of the people who’ve participated in Hoshiful, Clear, Gift, and MOON CHILDe!

    ???????

Thanks for sharing this with us, Stripey!

  4. creators5a.jpg is awesome :O any proper scan for that image? :p

  5. Asrialys: Haha! Actually the conversation went like this…

    “I want this one!”
    “Mate with someone else…”

TehShaw/ron~: It’s by none of than the renowned Eiji Komatsu who also illustrated Iriya no Sora, UFO no Natsu. Creators regularly feature his work. Sorry I don’t have a good scan of it but if I can across it, will report duly :)

Hemisphere: Sasuga the resident eroge expert! Creators also highlights the games that the illustrators have been involved in and yes, you got them right! :)

  6. With just a quick scan of this, the one artist that really stood out was Co2A and his Gurren Lagann illustration. Very awesome :3

  7. Is it me or the artist who did the first was also the one who did the art for Gift and Clear, while the third looks suspiciously looks like Misato Mitsumi’s work?

    Still, cool nonetheless.

  8. Zeroblade: I didn’t know the extent of Eiji sensei’s powress until this purchase and I lament the issues on him I’m missed so far. XD

meganeshounen: Oh yes, Mitha is also the person involved in Gift and Clear. Very sharp! :) Not very familiar with the Misato Mitsumi though I’ve sure I must have seen her work in games/anime. Any resource on her you can point me to? :)

  9. Mitha’s also made some pretty cute doujinshis on Touhou and Ragnarok Online. Some are NSFW, while some are completely hilarious.

  10. The Anime Version of FHM (Self-portrait edition)? lol… sorry a very bad joke Orz

  11. Hemisphere: Ooooh, I’d love to see Mitha’s touhou art. :)

cyw1988: Haha, it’s kind of like FHM for the otaku, yeah.

  12. For Misato Mitsumi, best reference would be games from Leaf/AQUAPLUS, since she and her team are the artists for games by them.

  13. Stripey: Misato Mitsumi? Best example would be… most of Aquaplus’s games. ^_^
Like ToHeart2 and Utawareumono. And Tenshi Inai no 10Gatsu. :D

  14. Ah thanks! There’s an artbook by her and I’m still contemplating if I should get it.. :)

  15. ? did you say 5 artists? I on;y see 4….

  16. Pardon me. There was 5 but I left out one. :P
