Bamboo Blade 13
Another jolly, uplifting episode that manages to avoid being trite and saccharine; I love the balance that this series manages to maintain - being positive and fun without too much cliche or preachiness. I liked how positive Mei had become Under The Influence of Tama-chan but how she was also quickly brought back to earth (and dragged into a bit of private hell) by Dark Miya Miya's furious attacks. LOL
I was half-wondering if there was any yuri about Reimi or was it just a case of some admiration mixed with a lot of creepiness but the nosebleeds pretty much confirm the yuri. Poor Miya Miya! She should get a restraining order or something. But then again, Reimi's Obnoxious Mom is probably best of friends with the local magistrate's wife too. I'm half expected that if Miya Miya tries to attack Reimi, the latter might unleash her Dark Side lightning attack and prove more than a match for our favourite Pink/Black Ranger. Miya Miya, fighto!
Great to see the full sentai team assembled, Kirino's rather obvious but nonetheless effective plan was perfectly executed. Looks like Satori's home room teacher may have been convinced that Satori has talent and enjoys kendo, so that's another ally (of justice!) on board.
The main problem will be to overcome the obstacle of Satori's bad grades. I'm guessing that kendo may help Satori to focus on her studies and give her something else to look forward to. Also, reading Kabitzin's post on Ep 9 reminded me that most of the kendo team (except Saya) has got pretty good grades so perhaps they could also form a study group - on the condition that Azuma joins the club and thus making it win-win for everyone.

I believe Saya also can get good grades if she bothered to prepare a little for the tests. It was mentioned somewhere in the manga that she scored well before she started missing classes for various reasons.

The “getting hit feels nice” part reminded me of Iichiro from “Nerima Daikon Bros.” I’d like to see the non-canon omake (or fanart) of Tama being chased by a flock of girls begging her to strike them with her shinai.

maglor, IIRC in Ep 12, Satori’s home room teacher tells Ishida-sensei that Satori attends class, takes notes and does homework diligently but fumbles in answering her test questions. This suggests to me that it’s not a lack of preparation but a chronic inability to focus. Which kendo might help solve.

Nice-desu , sorry to tell you this , but the best indicator of what a girl will look like when she’s all grow’d up is by looking at her momma. It won’t be exact, but you get a rough idea…

I second voodoomage’s comment. It’s sad but true; that is generally a good indicator.
Anyway, great episode. I love Kirino with her fan and Saya-chan freaking out with her “I can’t believe she just said that out loud” face. xD
