Seirei no moribito OST – A new favourite
First a big thank you to maglor (and his missus) for highlighting this most excellent anime that doesn't get as much love as it deserves. There are so many aspects of the series that is praiseworthy but today, I'd just like to share my love of the OST. Since my literary ability is limited, here's a sampling of my favourite tracks from the first OST instead.
(Edit: 11 Mar 2009 - BGMs removed)
There's another track that left a deep impression from episode 25. However, I'm unable to find the piece on both OSTs. I have ripped the background music from the episode (complete with battle sound effects) below. Will greatly appreciate it if anyone could shed some light on the name of the piece.

With Seirei no moribito's soundtrack, Kenji Kawai has made it into my list of anime composers to look out for although I understand he's actually already a legend in the music scene. Will surely be checking out his numerous works.

Seirei really has an awesome OST.
I’ll say my favourite track is Nahji no Uta… that song is truly a wonderful piece of work by him.

Seirei had it all;
Awesome OST
5.1-surround sound
Great pacing
Top-notch animation
Nice fighting scenes
…
I feel I can go on forever, so I will stop here

I got to know Kenji Kawai from the Fate Stay Night anime. Shirou’s retarded-ness half ruined it, but the vocal of him telling Saber of his love was just sublime (track 38 called “La Sola”). His versions of the battle music was pretty good too.

I’m glad you liked it.

Kurogane: Yeah Nahji no uta is a very fitting song for Seirei. In fact Omoi Haruki is the bgm version of the song
flaskis: I’d just add well-crafted characters to that non-ending list
I remember lamenting why Raki of Claymore cannot have a spine like Chagum. For some reason, Balsa reminds me of Teresa of the faint smile XD
Beowulf Lee: Me too! Pity the most excellent soundtrack was squandered on a series like F/SN. At least Production IG’s Seirei no moribito is worthy
maglor: Truly one of the better series I’ve seen this year. Thanks again

I’m enjoying this anime quite a bit… This coming from a person who’d prefer your average moe design of anime characters…. I have a great distaste for character designs that make the character look as realistic as possible..
Perhaps it’s my exposure to the big watery eyed world of the moe anime character design, but I avoid anime that don’t have the design in which i seek..
Having said that, there is a few that I have thouroughly enjoyed despite the character design and Seirei is one of them… What they lack in moeness, they more then greatly make up for in terms of story and the stunning background.

o_o
Now I have to get this OST.
Kenji Kawai seems hit or miss with his stuff. Of his recent stuff that I remember, Fate/stay night was consistently good, but save for the main theme, his Higurashi stuff wasn’t good at all. Nice to hear more from him though.

holyman282: I know what you mean. After all I surely prefer Da Capo II’s art to say Otogizoushi (also another Production IG work). But like you say, Seirei’s solid characters and plot won me over.
TheBigN: I’m under the impression that Kenji Kawai is more suited for period shows. I noticed he also did Tsui Hark’s Seven Swords which would be a perfect match for his style as Seirei is.

If You like the music from Seriei no Moribito, try OST from Vampire Princess Miyu TV. The music feels and sounds almost the same:D (It’ll remain my favourite forever, recommending:)

Thanks for the recommendation! Will surely check out the OST and anime.

Awesome OST, too bad it doesn’t have the opening song of the anime “Shine” by L’Arc-en-Ciel.

Will there be a third ost coming out?

Xstrike: Most OSTs don’t have the OPs/EDs, at least the full versions
I’m sure the single is out there somewhere.
Zen: I’m not sure but I sure hope so since I’m still missing that piece in the final battle in ep 24 XD

I couldn’t agree more with all of your opinions. Seirei no moribito is by far the best anime I’ve watched in a long time. It is great in every way, great music, great animation, great characters, great story. It is a pity it doesn’t receive as much attention as other animes of lesser quality.

Indeed, even though there are many who acknowledge it to be a great series, there’s still not enough love for Seirei
May 15th, 2008 - 20:04
Just finished the series and I must say one of the best I’ve watched (and I’ve watched about 150 titles so far). The reason most don’t acknowledge it too much is a) poor marketing on the publisher side or b) lack of artistic and quality perception in your run-of-the-mill anime fans or even c) a bit of both.
Ah well anyway I’m glad that I ran into this anime; really entertaining 10+ hours.
As for the OST, also a masterpiece especially the more cheerful “nature themed” tunes.

Indeed I remember marathoning it in 2-3 sittings. Just. can’t. stop!

Hey, Stripey, could you make that BGM song from episode 25, downloadable. you know like an mp3, pretty please!
January 8th, 2009 - 10:18
I don’t have the mp3 actually. Just ripped it off the ep. Btw you know the name of the song? It’s apparently not in the OSTs.
January 13th, 2009 - 14:00
Well no, I am sad to say. But I do know that sometimes not all the BGM of a anime series is released on to the OSTs. Normally it always depends how much money the anime made, as to whether or not more merchandise is released. For example, the anime Cowboy Bebop was hugely popular both in Japan and the USA, so a ultimate CD Boxset with all the BGM plus vocal tracks hit store shelves. Where as the anime, Wolf’s Rain, which had a great soundtrack, only got 2 OST released and several pieces of music were never released, because the series didn’t fair very well. The likely hood of Seirei on Moribito getting another OST doesn’t look bright. Although I hope I’m wrong.
I understand the you ripped it from the episode, but could you turn that ripped sound file into a mp3 for download, was my original request.
