My humble harem – a half yearly figure report
After years of watching harem series, I fnally sucuumbed in March this year and yielded to the subliminal brainwashing of anime. I had suddenly desired for ....
Since my other half vehemently opposed and Singapore laws probihited RL harems, I turned to the legitimate figure collection. It's been 6 months since and I've acquired a grand total of... 7 lovely ladies.

Here's a more detailed rundown of my figure family.....

These five figures form the next (lower) tier of my love. 1/8s have a special place in my heart. Having seen numerous other sizes; 1/6s, 1/7, 1/10 and even trading figures, I've come to conclude that 1/8 is the optimum size for figures. Frankly, Dark Saber would have been in tier one if she was not more like a 1/8.5. Indeed when it comes to a contest of the most beautiful, a miniscule blemish is utterly devastating.

With only 4 more pre-orders coming (of which 2 are intended for investment), I expect to finish 2006 with a grand total of 9 figures (~SGD 600). I think I've shown pretty good restraint in procuring figures for this year XD and look forward to a rich figure harvest next year.
Waiting for Goodsmile company's Meido Rin and Meido Saber releases in 2007.

My harem? About 60 of them. I need to make a post like yours but it’s really difficult because nwe great stuff are coming all the time. And my dark saber got lost in the mail along with the cute Ichigo Mashimaro waitress set!! I need to murder.

Hmm I started about half a year ago as well, and I have 11 ladies, and a lot of trading figures. Think I’ll do something like this as well.

So the State of Harem address is finally here and thank the maker it was not repetitive. I also ran the numbers and that comes to about 350-400 USD not bad, let’s see if you can keep it that way.
>>the envy of my neighbours.
I suggest you save this comment to soothe the wrath of the Dark Lady of Barad-dur.
Kudos on the tactical use of the word “figure” a paper mache defense, but not bad for a tanuki with a permanent mask to weasel around with.

moyism: I wonder if there’ll be a meido Sakura. I’m holding off pre-ordering Alter’s Battle suit Sakura in hope of her meido release . And although I’m nowhere near my master’s level, I’m looking forward to squatting in financial purgatory with my sensei…
tj han: Nooooo! Was it via SAL? Untrackable? Man, some heads need to roll..
Anyhow a thumbnail presentation of your huge collection would be impressive. Looking forward to it!
Tsubaki: Senpai!! A collated list like this also helps chart our descent into this dark obsession… Looking fwd to your list too.
Crusader: Considering my extreme weakness to all things beautiful, I found my purchases to be pretty subdued too.
But I have plans! Great plans to expand my harem empire. *insert megalomanical laughter*
In 2007, I will divide my harem into 2. I will then annex the fertile seifuku lands and its neighbouring meido state for my harem’s separate residence. (Meido lands will grant citizenry to waitress/goth garbed figures too). I have my sights on the fabled mizugi plains but do not have resources to conquer them yet. I blame the figure gods for tempting me once too many times. They shall taste the conquering might of my… err emaciated wallet. After I pay my tribute to Baradur of course. XD

I have an insanely huge figure collection, sadly I’m almost out of space in my room…unless I can sneak up a few more shelves. My pride and joy are my Kousaka Alice & Maria twin figurines from Suigetsu.
Giving them a run for their money though is my recently arrived Kooh figurine, I’ve still not played Pangya but my soul is already owned by it’s uber moe powers.

THE DARK SABER THAT WAS MEANT FOR TJ GOT SENT TO STRIPEY INSTEAD :V
Well, To each his own. I don’t collect PVC figures, though.

stripey, u can shrink your full size portrait down to harem size and put it right beside chobits such that it seems like now she’s going gaga on ya
September 7th, 2006 - 08:22
Mine are mainly trading figs and gashapons. Only till recently I finally got my ass to working and purchasing these babes. So far, I think I only got Dark Saber and Al Azif as my PVCs. Since I’m a Saber otaku, I got both the plushies and gonna buy more of her PVCs, if I can find the old ones.

Monketh: Oh are those the polystone suigetsu figures? they are worth a heap! Precious they are indeed.
Don’t know much about Pangya myself but I keep thinking golf loli. XD I’m drawn to erika’s figure too. Very well moelicious! Her feet’s a little large though.
DrmChsr0: LOL! I wished they will keep tj han’s goodies flowing my way! As for figure collecting, maybe the right figure is not out to move your heart yet? How about Hisui/Kohaku figures?
crimson: hehe, but she already is! Kneeling before my keyboard, clamouring for my attention XD
bj0rN: Oh you need to get your hands on Kotobukiya’s casual dress Saber then.
Just released, 1/8 and surely looks better than Alter’s 1/8 casual Saber released back in March. All the best for your Saber collection.

Nice collection~ I’m already on the way to debt through Japanese clothing, or I should just say clothing in general…
Though I would love to collect figures as well. If I ever start owning more than my lame gashapon figures, I’d be extreamly picky in my figures. For characters that I’m not obsessed over, the figures would have to be very pretty and nearly perfect. For characters I just love, the quality has to be at least okay or pretty good.
For some reason the figures that come to mind first that I want are two Shana figures (one that isn’t released yet), and Louise. Shana sold me on the mere fact that one figure has melon pan, and… I do love melon pan. I want any possible Higurashi figure out due to pure obsession, wish for a decent Asa figure to be released, and certain Haruhi characters as well if they came out.
This kinda makes me want to work in the industry and design figures one day, but I already have way too many things I want to do… DX
And a lot more of course, but it looks like I’ll be rambling on your blog from now on, terribly sorry about that. I also obviously don’t remember who makes what figures as well, but oh well.

Mr. Stripey, your infectious enthusiasm for these anime figures compells me to buy some of my own (that Feena figure post of yours beautifully conducted to me), just to see if it’ll bring me some kind of pleasure or enjoyment as it does so strongly to you. But to spend my money on anime figurines, or food to pad my stomach. Sigh, tough choices for a starving university student…

I’ve got three of the same figures, soon four thanks to these photos and a recent review. Dark Saber is surprisingly short, but then again, Kotori is too tall. I wish there was a standard for all the sculptures on scaling size, remember GSC’s humongo 1/6 magic girl Rin? So, do you mind enlightening us on your pre-orders or do we get the surprise treatment?
September 8th, 2006 - 01:24
Tess: You are most welcome to ramble here.
I like your take on figures and used to have rules similar to them on figure procurement. Alas, my will is weak and being enticed by all things beauitful, I have sucuumbed to getting figures of characters I know nothing of. XD I’m waiting for that Asa figure too! Unfortunately Atelier Sai’s Asa was a little lacking in the facial sculpt. And wow! to possibly enter the figure scene! Ganbatte! I can already see how big a hit your seifuku series will be
Muir Woods: Glad that Feena’s beauty reached you!
As I always say, “Food for the stomach, figures for the soul.” XD It’s a delicate balance but the struggles/sacrifices made for figures only make them all the more precious. I can forsee how the figures will be well loved under your care. If you get the chance, check out a figure shop, cradle Feena in your arms and let your heart direct you.
Saviour: Ah yes, I had initially found Kotori a little too tall too. It appears MaxFac’s scaling is a tad bigger than most. In fact my MaxFac’s loli-Aisia is the same high as Dark Saber XD As for pre-orders, it always great to share w a fellow collector. I”ll just list the 2 which I intend to keep/display.

strypey-dono,
Thank you for introducing us to your pearls. I have fallen in love with Feena-sama and Kotori-chan just by gazing at their likeness. Kudos to you.
I have a smallish collection that resides (mostly unassembled, I fear) on top of two of my bookcases in 6 boxes of the shoebox caliber. Most of this collection falls into the gasaphon toy size. but I do have Toynami’s Chii in brown dress, Chi in pink party dress and Yuzuki in standard blue meido, (roughly 6.5in tall) I have two sets of the Chobits figures, one to display (and worship) out of the box, and one to keep in the box.
But the crown jewels of my collection are Three… Silvia and Ellen from Majokka ala mode, and Konomi from TH2 (except that the handle on her school briefcase is broken, but that’s a minor thing) and none of these have yet to make it Out Of The Box..with Silvia and Ellen, I liked the packaging as much, if not more than the actual figure, so much so that it was the packaging that made me fall in love with them. so I’m hoping I may come across another set of the majokka ala mode characters (…let’s see siscon majokka medio, isn’t that an interesting combination) They don’t really see the light of day, partly because I don’t want people confusing them with the various Statues and Icons of Our Lord, Our Lady, and the Saints that adorn my bookcases and walls, but mostly I think because I just don’t have the space.. (well, tjat and they woudl soon be obscured by my ever growing Piles and Files (books, manga, CD/DVDs
I _will_ be on the lookout for Kotori and Feena at AWA, though. I only wish they had 1/8 figures of Haruka Suzumiya from Kimino still availible for me to find. 8(
September 23rd, 2006 - 19:55
woo hoo! Just got back from AWA…and I brought back Kotori-chan with me! I tried to find Feena-sama’ seifuku incarnation, but they were all sold out, alas, so I had to settle for the 1/6 scale Feena Fan Earthlight dress mode (and a corresponding “Brighter than dawning blue complete visual artbook”, and oh my was I awed by her! I kept her hugged to my chest for most of th day…also added a coveted convenetion only Chi in black dress (read Elda in blackd dress) #0511 of #1000. so i think my harem is coming along. thanks stripey!
September 24th, 2006 - 09:41
Wow gratz anglicanotaku! Sorry I missed your earlier comment. But boy am I envious! you have the very VERY rare Konomi figure!
Truly your figure harem is coming along very nicely. For starters…. *start hyperventilating*…..oh boy, black dress Elda… I’d love to see that piece! Plus, with Kotori, you can’t go wrong. And you have that Yoake perfect visual artbook which incidentally didn’t make the customs in my country. Yet another gem of my envy.
Wonderful wonderful additions indeed to your collections. Looking fwd to hearing more worthy purchases from you.
September 25th, 2006 - 20:37
you know, after skimming the book, I see why it wouldn’t made customs in your country…there are more H-scenes than any other scene…(so, if you want to see pics, I can find a way to scan the pages and send them, neh?) (guess its a good thing I live in the US)
Konomi is that rare? We’re talking the 1/8 figure of Konomi with the classic running pose (sculpted by jun (e.v), right? Well, that’s the joy of ebay (I won it for (I think) $25 ’cause the briefcase was broken, but a little glue could take care of that, if I so desired, if I could worm up the courage to take her out of the box.
Hands strypey brown paper bag, here, stop hyperventaling I took pics of her set up in my girlfriend’s apartment (along with Kotori-chan, Feena-sama) both alongside the Chi in pink dress, and by herself. When I find your email addy and figure out just how our new digi camera works, I’ll send you pics of Freya/Chi and Feena-sama, maybe we could set up a collobarative figure shrine of our beloved maidens no kokoro
September 25th, 2006 - 22:19
Woah thanks for the kind gesture! yeah I kind of figured out there’s probably loads of h-scenes which is why it didn’t make the cut. But no matter, I’m plotting to get it via a roundabout manner. Feena hime-sama is well worth it
And this is your Konomi rite? It’s not available in Singapore anymore despite the abundance of the other To Heart figures. I’m looking for it myself. You got a treasure in your hands.
And finally, would love to see your figure pics (especially Chii)! When convenient, just send them over to stripey@gmail.com or simply leave a link on these comments.
Thanks in advance!
September 30th, 2006 - 22:29
yep, that’s her.
I have to say, though, that it may be the ultra moeishness about the character, but Feena-hime sama is one character I do NOT delight in seeing the ecchi scenes for. It just feels…..wrong seeing her in those kind of poses.. Then again, I feel the same way about Konomi, Kotori, Silvia, and Ellen.
