Siscon Aptitude Test (SAT) Part 1 – Listening comprehension

Are you an aspiring siscon? Is Asakura Junichi or Saeki Koushirou your idol? Is marrying your sister your life-long goal? Are you uncertain of your potential to make it big in the sis-con realm? Then this test is for you! Designed to probe the darkest recesses of your fetishing heart, the SAT will sense the faintest sister-loving inclinations in your being via a very simple listening test.

Below are recordings of several kawaii imoutos with their brother-loving ways. However, mixed in this list are some pretenders who uses onii-chan's name in vain.

Your sacred task: To sift the wheat from the chaff by identifying the 'sister'-character in each recording and deduce the nature of their 'bro-con'.

This test is 10 min and best taken when your Japanese-proficient sister is not within earshot. Translations and hints provided. Pls proceed when ready.

"Heh heh... Aniki kissed me...." (Hint)

"I want to fawn over Onii-chan..." (Hint)

"I love Onii-chan's rubba rubba..." (Hint)

"I love Onii-chan way more... sorry.." (Hint)

"Good morning, Nii-san... awake?" (Hint)

"Onii-chan.....umm... (I) like you..." (Hint)

"ummhh.. Onii-chan...." (Hint)

"Onii-chan... I'm back.." (Hint)

Answers to be revealed in the next post. All the best for siscon-wannabes out there!

(Just for the record, I failed this SAT miserably, proving beyond a shadow of doubt that I'm no siscon... Sigh, there goes my license.)

  2. Hmmm… The only one that I recognized without resorting to the too-obvious hints was Pacifica from Scrapped Princess. I’m a failure as a siscon. It might be somewhat related to the fact that I actually have a little sister. Think of the Sasahara brothers from Genshiken and you should get an idea of the bonds we share…

  3. I got 3, 5, 6, and 8, although I probably would have been lost on 6 if it weren’t for the sound of the wagon wheels in the background.

And I am surprised at the lack of Elis.

  4. Crusader: Ah… I shall hold my praises for you until the answer-arc. :) Btw if you did this w/o the hints… you must be Oyasiscon sama :)

Erilex: Ah make that 3 of us… my RL imouto is Sasahara’s sister + Saki’s disposition. I’m glad she usually on my side in fights. :)

Kabitzin: No worries, no one’s born a siscon. Practice makes perfect. Let me send you an approved list of the ‘relevant’ series to kick start your training. :)

Kefit: The fact that you even brought up Elis makes it unnecessary for you to take this test. :) You are a natural! :P Elis was the 2nd person to come to mind when I was setting up the list. I just didn’t have a digital copy of her voice. A real shame.

  5. Hmmmm, No Iku nor Miyuki? And none of the 12 sisters from Sister Princess? The juiciest line ever for bro-con is the Chikane’s line from Sister Princess series.

( While standing over her sleeping brother, holding an apple )
” One day, I will make you eat this forbidden fruit on your own volition. ”

Kohinata Nanoka’s Bro-con is bit too serious for the casual discussion. I am still amazed at the wonderful voice acting in the anime, and the fact that Anime is far more better and serious compared to the original manga.

  6. The Magikano ones were easy enough since it was one of the better shows of last season. Kage Kara Mamoru was a bit harder but I slowly recognized that green haired fool who challenged my dear Hotaru (I hope Mamo-kun is stuck with banana girl for the rest of his life, grr…). Koi Kaze and Scrapped Princess are among my long time favorites and long have I followed thine blogging habits. 7 was a scratcher but the clue was sickly and no hint of boxcutter motivations, in other words I guessed. :P As for Da Capo I will never forget the blasphemous siren call of Nemu, my picks for Da Capo were Kotori and I just found Sakura to be adorable with her cat.

Two were discerned from pure unadulterated hatred, the fatal flaw of this test is that the sample size of the shows was too small and too recent. Your license is still valid becuase this test was flawed. Besides I got lucky with seven and have a military grade memory beaten into me and an ear for detail born during watch standing. Now if my memory served me as well during tests I’d be set.

Wontaek: As far as Nanoka’s bro-con is concerned being a militant humanitarian I would have let them share their lives together provided they submit to sterilization. Narrowing the gene pool was the only moral quibble I had left after that touching story. If we opposed sis-con why theyn would we be hanging around Stripey? ;)

  7. >Kabitzin: No worries, no one

  8. For daring to put up this quiz, youu have proven, beyond the shadow of a doubt, YOU HAVE SISCON.

    Also, 7 is Mesousa. (LOL)

  9. Eh bro, the Main Office has sent you a telegram:

    Dear Stripey,

Due to the lower level of siscon in the Spring Season, we have decided to allow your appeal to retain your siscon license – even though you failed to even mention Tokko. However, you will be expected to say something on Chokotto Sister for the Summer Season.

In addition we regret to inform you that you cannot be formally be crowned as King of Siscon until you have seen Sister Princess + SP Repure and will remain Crown Prince of Siscon until such time you fulfill the coronation criteria.

    That is all.

    The Main Office.

  10. >>Also, 7 is Mesousa. (LOL)

Oh thank heavens, thanks DrmChsr0 I have never been so glad to be wrong.

I agree with the main office when the summer season gets into full swing the drought of sis-con shall end and you will be on the frontlines.

  11. Only got 1) correct, and that was because she was my favourite character, and that was my favourite episode of Magikano.

I was utterly lost on the rest. @,@

Was surprised that I failed to recognise Nemu, but I guess that’s due to my memory suppression taking effect. :P Was also disappointed that I failed to recognise Pacifa, since ‘Scrapped Princess’ is one of my top favourite anime series.

Out of curiosity, do you have sisters in RL, Stripey? I do( two in fact), and maybe that’s why I’m desensitised to the allure of the so-called sis-con.

    Cheers.

  12. I got everyone but #8… Chiaki’s was probably the most recognizable of the ones you had there, however.

Now if Stripey doesn’t cover either Chokotto Sister the manga, or the anime, he’ll probably have to get his licensed revoked. As far as the appeal of sis-con, Skane, I think the draw is in a female figure which the person with siscon can ‘guide’ into proper behavir, and who maintains a properly worshipful/admiring manner towards the ‘big brother’.

  13. Finally got to hear the voices. I got 4, 5, and 6. The line 4’s Bro-con level is more like level 128. Here are other bro-con levels that has not been given by Crusader.

1: Yuki Iku (Boku wa imouto ni koi wo suru) : Level 70. Shares the mother, but it was the brother who initiated the whole event. Bonus point for 10 year search.

2: Onodera Karen (Onegai Twins): Level 10. Acted like spoiled sister to get in the brother’s way

3: Housen Elis ( Canvas 2 ): Level 25. Actually Cousins, thus the level deductions.

4: Miyuki ( Miyuki ) : Level 49, Asakura Nemu is almost an exact copy of her, situation wise, but Miyuki is much better cook and athlete.

5: The 12 sisters ( Sister Princess ): Level 3 to 85. They share at least one, if not two of the parents with the male character, and it is they who are burning the fire.

    6. Nonomura Ami ( Cream Lemon ): Level 97. This goes, literally, all the way. Small deduction for managing to keep things secret, concerned mainly with hormonal overdrive, and being separated.

Hmm. That is all I can claim to have witnessed in some form or another. As for number 6, during 80s and early 90s, due to limited resources, my friends and I had pool our money together to get anime recordings. We took turns on getting things and, obviously, some members of our group were more attracted to bare skin than others, just like any males in their college years.

  14. wontaek: 0_o!! That has to be the best siscon line I’ve heard in a loooong while… SisPri here I come!

Crusader: LOL! I agree with the siren part though. Till this day, Nemu’s “niiii-san” still reverberates in my head everytime I see the word “imouto”. (It resonates stronger if I see its kanji form) As for summer animes, Chokotto Sister’s siscon element seems to focus on the sister-lurving bro as opposed to my preferred brother-lurving sisters. And just as I prefer yuri over yaoi, I’m not sure this variant of siscon would have the same impact. Looking forward to it nevertheless. :P

Kabitzin: Hmm maybe punnage and siscon alleles are mutually exclusive… :P

DrmChsr0: Dang! Just when I thot I proved my case.

Zyl: Thanks bro, but I’m sure they got the wrong Stripey. Should have chosen a less common handle. Btw ‘King of siscon’ conjures frightening images of sister harems and imouto concubines…. ;)

Skane: Haha! Actually I do have a sister (imouto) whom I cherish a lot. Actually Zyl nailed it here about my ’siscon’. The truth is I like sister-characters who are emotional tsunderes as they struggle to come to terms with their taboo feelings. Plus, I like jealous girls. And EVERY brother-loving sisters are jealous-types. (Can’t be helped I guess.) Anyway this discussion warrants an entry. Thanks for granting the idea. :)

Haesslich: Ah thanks for highlighting one of the draws of ’siscon’. Since I use ’siscon’ rather indiscriminately, it actually encompasses a deal of anime character charm. Will certainly write some up to explain in detail my brand of ’siscon’ so that revelant authorities wouldn’t be breaking my door down for inciting incest. :P

wontaek: Ah this is the 2nd time you mentioned Miyuki.. *gasp* an exact copy of Nemu?! My academic desire of all things siscon compels me to check it out… :)

  15. only 1, 2 and 3 didnt give me too much goosebumps.

  16. Hmmmm. I find it strange that nobody is coming to burn me on stake for mentioning the Nonomura Ami Series from the infamous Cream Lemon.

  17. maybe we have evolved beyond burning on stakes. People nowadays use flamethrowers or a just click on a red button beneath a breakable glass in the battle room :P

  18. Hey again! I really liked this final episode too and I agree that there definitely needs to be a second season ^^. Speaking of second seasons, Hachimitsu to Clover II just started running. (Though I noticed that you haven’t seen the original from your list of past series). Another series I recommend to you, both the first one, and this second season.

And from my earlier recommendations a while back, now that I’ve seen a few more episodes, I’m really starting to like Zegapain, so if you’re lacking in series to watch over the summer, you might want to check it out.

  19. crimson: Haha! I see you see you have developed a skin-crawl index for siscon voices. :)

wontaek: Actually I suspect too few folks have seen Cream Lemon (including myself) to cruxify you for it. :P I think you shd be thankful hehe. :)

Icteridae: Thanks again for highlighting gems to me! :) Actually I have seen H&C and I’m REALLY looking forward to some resolution for the Ayu/Rika/Mayama entanglement for this season. Will probably pick it up only after the series complete since I’m already sold on its goodness. :)

As for Zegapain, although I’ve mostly heard not so nice things about it, your assurance and that it’s from SUNRISE makes me want to give it a shot. Thanks for the heads-up. :)

  20. stripey: nonono, its not the voices. It’s the context. While hearing what they say, i’m superimposing the english texts on it. So they give me the chills. But i’m sure i wont feel that way if its the lil girl from aishideru zu baby saying it. I’ll go awwwwwww (so kawaiiiiiiiiii).

  21. yo Stripey! love the blog man, though this is my first comment, i’ve been reading you now for about 8 months. keep up the good work.

I don’t know if this counts.. but I’d say the true siscon girls are 2, 4, 5,7, 8. now, since I don’t recognize most of the characters..(and haven’t yet seen all but one of the series, though I hope to rectify that somewhat in the indefinite near future) I had to go on the feel of the voices alone.

(personally i fall into the seifuku/long skirt fetish meself, but siscon and lolicon completes the trinity, with a hyperdulia given to mediocons, and a regula dulia, with full and complete latria given soley to the trinity)

so are we grading this test Japanese style, or American style?

  22. Thanks anglicanotaku for your kind words. :) If you haven’t seen most of the series, then your receptivity for siscon-ness is amazing. :) Of those you mentioned, 2,4,5,8 occupy venerated postions in the siscon kingdom. For a neat package of loli, meido and siscon entertainment, try Da Capo. :)

Still contemplating a hontou-ni style grading for siscon tests. :)
