Kanon PV
I'm in high heaven. Just saw the 4Mb Kanon PV and even the poor resolution could not mask the beauty of the Kanon girls nor Kyoto Animation's gorgeous artwork.
As we can see, the Kanon girls are beautifully rendered and faithfully portrayed; Ayu's still ever genki, Makoto belligerent, Natuski coy, Mai moody and Shiori, so delicate. In fact this Yuichii looks like he's a vertebrate too.
And the divinely inspired art direction...wow! I was absolutely captivated by those lovely scenes of lone girls in breathtaking backdrops. Add the dramatic Last regrets as the bgm and we have some truly magical moments. AIR quality stuff....sasuga Kyoto Animation.
My screencaps don't do the PV a shred of justice. Pls check it out for yourselves. Sigh, half a year to go...

Wow! o.O. Ironically, I am in the process of rewatching Kanon, and I keep thinking to myself how wonderful the series is, and if only the drawings weren’t so sloppy … .
I feel so out of the loop .. are they really remaking the whole series?!

equix (and some other WP themes) are particularly unfriendly for the close pointy bracket (what’s the proper name for it?). To get >_<, use ampersandgt; (XHTML).
Bug-eyed monsters aside, I still think the Kanon girls still look way toooo loli. Did they nerf the sexxor in the Toei version?

anyways, can’t wait for them to release more info in the coming months, as kanon (aside from how the characters looked) was one of my higher rated anime’s because of the story and the music… so YAYAYAYAYA

Interesting…thanks for the link to the trailer, it looks good. I just re-watched the original Kanon and other than the character designs I really liked it, so it’ll be hard for Kyoto Animation to top, but if anyone can do it, they can. The character designs for the Kyoto Animation version remind me of Air a lot, like the eyes are a little too far apart, but I got used to it with Air, and in any case it’s better than the character designs were for the original Kanon anime. I hope it gets the 24-26 episode treatment to really go into each character’s story in depth…if it’s only 13 it’ll be hard for them to do much more than the original series did.

It’s not really XHTML-specific, standards for eary HTML already used to precribe special symbol replacements such as [&] for ampersand [&], [>] for greater than symbol [>] and [<] for lower than symbol [personally deeply hate character design from Air (really loved just everything about the first Kanon, especially it’s bewildering character design and it’s unique feel of winterness – it was soo nostalgic for me) but as for backgrounds they did a really splendid job. And it seems I can expect no less from them this time around…

Yes! I was awashed with nostalgia too when I caught the PV…

Hmm maybe as you had mentioned, KEY’s art may not be your cup of tea after all. Hopefully you would be able to stomach KA’s Kanon come ZFall

If anything, they did Ayu’s tale right in Toei’s version. I just hope KA would give the rest of the girls, the touching tales that they so rightly deserve this time round.. *runs around with taiyaki in mouth*
suguru: I have your concerns too. I’m also skeptical that 13 eps would be sufficient to carry the 5 girls’ tales. Yet I wonder if 24 eps would be overstretching the series. I guess we just have to leave that in the good hands of KA

I vote for nayuki’s tale.And also a better deal of storiesfor the other girl.That demon slying senpai(sorry,forget her name) was the most neglected.Played halfway of the game,and I think she deserves better

O sry about all the html fuss and me not liking AIR character designs. It’s not for the eyes whatever, it for their mouths placed 1mm below their noses. Just couldn’t bring myself to recognize this as a moe/kawaii fashion. I wonder how do they eat without excesses… Yay 4 winter ftw!

^^ great preview indeed… I was quite amazed by the quality of the animation and such. The fact that the anime is going to be 24 eps will guarantee the quality storyline, too. T__T can’t wait…seriously.

24 episodes is great… I wish they made Air 24 episodes. The whole thing seems so rushed and they left out some great scenes which are in the game.

I just hope KyoAni would have the resources to maintain an AIR quality production for a full season. ctually I’m a little worried that the series would feel overstretched with 24 eps but since Kanon has 5 girls, I suppose 24 eps would be nice. Like you, I can’t wait either 
Moot: I didn’t play the game but AIR did feel very rushed towards to end. In fact I would have love to have more eps of Kano and Minagi.. their arcs felt really condensed.

Woot *dances* the images look rather promising and I am looking forward to seeing the new series version. Many episodes can mean either good story line or (but hopefully not) drawn out continuations that get boring. I’m definately thinking it’ll be good though.

Absolray: Yeah! I’m so excited now I wanted to marathon through KyoAni’s 24 ep Kanon already! haha.. I suspect it would be rather torturous to wait for that weekly ep of Kanon come Fall 2006
Sanity over-rated: Yes, I share your slight apprehension initially too… too many eps may dilute the potency of the stories… I guess we just have to put our faith in KyoAni who does have a very good track record actually
