When I saw the above scene, I just thought of abq. (;^_^) Nobue summons the girls to join her at the lakeside café for cake. Hilarity ensues.

I've tended to be harsh on Matsuri but this time, she has proved that she's not totally useless after all and totally pwned Ana with her English. There also a distinct echo of two scenes from Azumanga, the first when Yukari laughs at Kagura tries to help a foreigner but scares him instead with her aggressive "Helpu mi!"; the second when Yukari and Nyamo run into a foreigner and Yukari takes the chance to humiliate Nyamo. Seems that the Foreigners Asking for Directions in English really scares Japanese people - which Azrael also attests to.

That five-yen coin trick really does work!

Normally I'd go "Bah! What a load of sentimental claptrap!" but this show is soooo cute that I even forget my cynicism once and a while. That, I think, is a true mark of this series' success. Will be keeping it on steadby as part of my Anime Angst Antidote repetorie (the others being Azumanga Daioh and Cardcaptor Sakura).
