While I was very happy to see lots of Hina-chan in this episode, I was also rather downcast that Hina’s been firmly put in her place as a Supporting Chara. A strong and charismatic character, no doubt, but definitely Not The Heroine of the series. On the proverbial third hand, Nagi and Hayate see some progress in their relationship but it gets reset. One step forward, half a step back.

Normally I consider it extremely bad form to question the ‘favourite’ lists of others. After all, it is about their favourites, not mine. Still, when I saw that Hayate no Gotoku was ranked Number 2 for 2007 on Hop! Step! Jump!, I couldn’t help but think: ‘Ooh yiah boh, Jeff?’ (Translation: ‘Surely you jest, Mr Lawson.’)

V07.Ch66(3).p040-042: Absolutely lovely how Miki oh so slyly sets up Hina to receive her Valentine’s chocolates. Miki rhetorically asks: Isn’t V-Day is an event where girls give chocolate to guys? An embarrassed Hina, who is eating her way through a huge pile of chocolate from her fangirls, says that she knows that too.
