Hinagikuism :: Manga Vol.8 Ch 79-82

V08C79. Hina’s stepmom makes herself scarce (beauty parlour then meeting up with Yukiji) in order to let our pinkhaired heroine enjoy a home-cooked dinner with just Hayate. They bump into each other as Hina prepares to shop for groceries but her attempt to confront Hayate about his relationship with Ayumu ‘Hamster’ Nishizawa is derailed when he asks her about what she likes to eat. And Hina’s favourite foods are curry and hamburgers - which are apparently common ‘favourite foods’ of guys. (What would be stereotypical girly favourite foods?) Their conversation continues to be at cross purposes, with Hayate behaving normally but Hinagiku becoming increasingly irritated due to the Hamster factor. But they still look couplely enough, ah light hearted high schoolers’ conversation; die couples die ;)

Hinagikuism :: Manga Vol.8 Ch 75-78

I had intended to post my Hinagikuism comments on the whole volume 8 of the manga but it’s just easier to work in smaller parts. Especially since these four chapters have been scanlated by Musashi; many thanks for the great work! (The extracts in this post are from the raw scans though. Looking forward to the next big Kinokuniya sale to acquire Vol.4 onwards!)

V08C75. Hayate has to leave the mansion after Nagi feels awkward that he saw her in the bath previously. Maria gives him a very generous amount to take care of accommodation but, with his incredible bad luck, he manages to have almost all of it frittered away. Cold, alone, sad boy in snow with nowhere to go. But riding to the rescue is Hinagiku! Some comparisons have been made between Hayate’s initial meeting with Nagi to this scene. Fans of a HayaHina pairing would certainly see this as a major point in the development of their relationship.

Hayate no Gotoku 48

Finally a Hinagiku-centric episode! And one that ups the doki-doki factor between her and Hayate. But methinks this feels too little, too late.

Hayate no Gotoku 41

Yukiji-neechan has been kidnapped by aliens and replaced by an evil twin! Well, not really. I usually don’t like comedy based on one big extended misunderstanding very much but this was nicely resolved three quarters the way through (and it also made complete sense when rewatching).

Hayate no Gotoku 39

While I was very happy to see lots of Hina-chan in this episode, I was also rather downcast that Hina’s been firmly put in her place as a Supporting Chara. A strong and charismatic character, no doubt, but definitely Not The Heroine of the series. On the proverbial third hand, Nagi and Hayate see some progress in their relationship but it gets reset. One step forward, half a step back.

You should be able to click on most of the Hina pics for a larger image. For a more representative sample of screencaps, see Tea Shop Beloved’s entry on this ep.
