Why does Cecile-nee look concerned for Lloyd about him getting dumped by Millay? What does she know that we and the rest of the onlookers don’t? Is it because his heart is well and truly broken that he won’t have access to those rare vintage Ashford Knightmare frames? Actually when the Guren was captured, I was half-expecting him to start humping its foot like the way Uribatake did when the Jovian mecha was captured by the Nadesico. LOL

LOL at Anya using the Modred. Lack of common sense, good job! And her conversation with Viletta-sensei about ‘Dame?’ ‘Dame.’ ‘Dame…’ was just pure comedy gold. Looking forward to learning more about her childhood relationship with Lelouch, though from her photo confrontation it seems that Lelouch doesn’t remember her and didn’t even stop to consider how she had gotten a photo of him in the first place.

Ok, if Ashford has a university and if Millay is Student Union Prez, I’m transferring. I might as well as change my course and department of registration while I’m at it. I recently submitted abstracts for THE big academic conference for my discipline next year. I couldn’t even find a call for papers or panel group that fit my actual research topic but my abstract for a paper about anime, which I had submitted as a joke, was actually accepted by one of the panel chairs. This was just freakin’ ridiculous but my reaction was: ‘COOL!’ Sunrise has definitely done an excellent job at managing my expectations so that anything they throw up will be met with, at least, neutral, if not positive, reactions. LOL at the hundreds of dates that she had set Lelouch up on. And LOLOL at Rollo’s reaction.

About meetings, thumbs up to Guilford for giving senpai advice to Suzaku about having to use this moment of peace in Area 11 to nurture his relationships at school. The princes and princesses chatting about what to do with the Chinese Federation was also interesting – given Emperor Charlie’s social darwinism, why is that his offspring don’t seem too capable or interested in the art of war with the talent pool in that area seemingly restricted to Schneizel and Cornelia? Then again, it could also be a blessing that incompetent and untrained royals aren’t in command at the war front. And why is Bismarck’s eye sewn up like? Speaking eyes, Orange-kun’s Geass canceller was just soooo Gundam SEED Neutron Jammer Canceller. Except it breaks heart too. Poor Shirley! She is the Akane (Mai HiME) of the Code GEASS universe!

LOL at ‘my misfortune is that I have only known happiness’. ‘I have always wanted to be a tragic heroine’ FTW. And the swimsuit fanservice wasn’t very fanservicey – by today’s standards or even compared to back then in the ancient times? Or have I just been spoiled by memories of SHUFFLE?

EP-11: Finding Yourself in a ‘Routine Plot’ New Chulip, new artillery type weapon in the Kursk industrial area. Nadesico’s long range attack goes awry, surprise surprise; switching tack to a ground assault by the Aestis who are faced by that old 20th C favourite, the tank. Akito learns the value of comradeship.

Though he doesn’t seem to have fully absorbed the discipline required to be a good pilot. Gah, I really hate those supokon types that just get by with guts and passion – go and get killed on your own already and don’t drag down the rest of the team! Akito (eats the curry from Ryoko): ‘This is delicious!’ Ryoko: ‘Of course, you cooked it, you dummy!’ LOL

EP-12: Those ‘Unforgettable Days’ Friendly fire against the UEAF by Nadescio and its Aestis is traced to the ship’s computer Omoikane. Akito and gang battle to save the ship’s consciousness through an extremely cute graphical-VR interface.

Lovely Ruri-centred episode, the second of three in the series. She gets such good lines, like the opening when she described how the Jovians targeted the Nadesico in battle like they were responsible for murdering the Jovians’ parents and her wake up your idea line to Akito about self and belonging.

EP-13: There is No Single ‘Truth’ Erina Won tries to recruit Akito for Nergal’s organic boson jump experiments after he is dismissed from the now-militarised Nadesico. After turning his back on her and Inez, he returns to use Chulip Crystals to save his friends from the enemy… whose mecha has a cockpit filled with Gekiganger merchandise.

EP-14: Let’s Go with ‘Hot-Blooded Anime” A recap episode running thematically rather than strictly chronologically. And featuring the Gekiganger gang watching Nadesico as an anime.

Ah, reminded of Naze Nani Nadesico (The Why and What of Nadesico) and how we’ve seen homages to it in Naze Nani Mai HiME or whenever any anime has an explanation interlude.
