Biri Biri is cool and spicy sweet; coming to Kuroko’s rescue with her trademark Railgun shot and then comforting her junior.

I agreed with and delighted in most of what Dav wrote on Ep 21. I have a minor quibble though – Kuroko would "NEVER cry" after a horrible ordeal; methinks Kuroko does have a maiden’s heart but her strong pride prevents her from doing so too often. Thus she will cry if (1) ordeal was truly horrible and (2) in Mikoto’s chest – yuri desire aside, she seems less inhibited to let go in front of Mikoto when she’s in Oneesama mode. When it comes down to it, Kuroko would dearly love to be spoilt by Mikoto.

Also it’s great to see fellow Biri Biri fan Washi enjoyed this ep too; somehow my enjoyment is amplified by knowing a fellow fan is enjoying this too, such is the mystery of animu blogging. He has a good point that Mikoto is probably used to Kuroko’s "over affections" but I also think Mikoto’s got a very kind heart and is willing to give Kuroko the benefit of doubt – recalling Mentar’s observation about how she’s "helpful and caring by deposition."

Compared to the Ep 14 animated gif, this was even more humongous, packing in 167 frames (Each unique! Thanks for the tip, Kraker2k!) and the panning wasn’t a problem (Thanks, Dav!), I actually think it makes a good transition when re-looping, should have added a black blank frame right at the end to aid that though.

After much procrastination, I finally got down to making an animated gif from Index Episode 14 where Mikoto returns home to someone who loves her. Except I couldn’t remember how to do it at first. And as with all matters technical, I turned to Kabitzin – specifically the tutorial recommended in the Matsurika guitar post.

First off, I had to get the images to make up the animated gif; went for the ffdshow method. But it didn’t spell out step-by-step how to ‘grab a range of frames.’ Fortunately even I was able to figure it out. Eventually. So I thought I’d better write it down in case I want to do this again.

While playing the anime in Zoom Player, pause and then press ‘I’ – this gives the ‘Information & Statistics’ box on the left. The info I was looking for was ‘Current Frame’ – repeat to find the frame number to input in the Range option under the ffdshow Grab menu.

And here it is. I particularly loved the series of expressions that passed through Mikoto’s face. ‘Poor dear, I must have really worried her’ concern to see how relieved her kouhai was to see her oneesama safe and sound, ‘Dammit not again!’ exasperation at Kuroko’s erojiji seku hara, ‘She does this every chance she gets!’ resignation at the above-mentioned and finally ‘Ah well, it’s not so bad’ indulgent smile.

Onward to Ep 21 for Kuroko facerubbing Biri Biri chest good times again!

But, as Keiri said, she needs to have her speech patterns reprogrammed. It worked well with Emotionless MISAKA but much less well.

I did get caught off guard, like Accelerator, when she suddenly turned analytical in the family restaurant and brilliantly deconstructed Mister Former Top Level Five’s interactions with the Sisters. Good job!

Two final notes. First I had somehow expected that Satou Rina would voice all three Biri Biri versions like how Hayashibara Megumi voiced all three Reis but they are, despite their common genetic makeup, different people and Satou, Sasaki Nozomi, and Hidaka Rina make good contrasts. Would love to see them team up!

Second, I’m a little surprised that there’s been no mention of the MISAKA project, Sisters and Last Order in the Railgun manga so far (up to Chapter 14).
