I’ve been meaning to follow the examples of Adun and Stripey in consolidating my anime-related expenditure for 2007 (mainly for my own budgeting records and planning) but accounting for the August Japan trip has made it rather complicated. Have finally decided to split things up by product category; coincidentally-on purpose, DVD purchases were the easiest to compile since I didn’t buy any DVDs in Japan.
[Added: Total expenditure updated! I've decided to exclude the 'indirect' costs of the Japan trip such as air ticket, accommodation, food, travel to/fro Ariake etc. But with more pie charts! :P]

S/he who watches the anime will blog, even though s/he retires; and whoever watches and blogs the anime will never really die. あなたは「アニボログ」を信じますか。
I was just thinking to myself that it’s good to have Epi posting (semi-)regularly again after a hiatus in the latter half of 2006 and how it is relatively rare for someone who has announced their retirement or who went on an extended hiatus to be able to get back into the groove.
Then along comes Os’s announcement (which I saw via Sea Slugs!). Tis the season to be returning?
The night of Walpurgis passed quite recently, so perhaps someone has been calling the Ole Powers That Blogged with a ceremony and book from a school basement. ;) Are these the signs that the Daioh himself will arise and cometh again to reign over his animublogdom?
I’ve definitely been reading too much about comparative methodology recently. While having lunch, out of the blue, the thought just popped into my mind that the common thread running through the small handful of anime series that I’m watching this season involved protagonists whose moms are absent from their lives.

I’m largely in agreement with double on controlling impulse buying, if only because it is important that we have cognitive models that give us the comforting illusion we can really? really! control our spending.
But part of good planning is also the need for a Plan B when our intricately formulated Plan A does not survive first contact with the merchandise. All hail Moyism!

A confluence of Hinano’s ROFLMAO reaction to the Stripeysian turn in the Vampire Knight manga and Dancing Queen’s acquisition of a lovely domain name reminded me of how Hontou ni sou omou? wasn’t the first name for this blog and I had toyed with calling it: GAAN! The Horrible Revelation during the switchover from the first name but, with the hontouni.com domain, I’ve more or less thrown in my lot with the S.I.S.C.O.N. Alliance. If we ever succeed in recruiting Nauzron (aka Mrs Stripey), I would suggest ‘Hontou ni Hentai desu’ as her blog’s name - of course that would mean that the focus of her blog would be meta-blogging about Stripey’s entries. ;-)
