I only realized the existence of this little gem after browsing Shizuka Itou’s ANN entry (surprised that she also voiced Tama-nee!). Fans of Wilhelmina-Tiamat manzai comedy, rejoice!

First you use the word ‘gohobi’ and then now ‘action’, that’s a naughty Wilhelmina! Bad Wilhelmina! Ok, who am I kidding? I’d sure like a meido too! BTW Tiamat whispering along with Wilhelmina really cracked me up.

Yes, that was a banjo on her back in the second screencap. Apparently it’s a pun on her title of ‘Manipulator of Objects’.

No melon pan were harmed during the making of this omake. Mmmmm miso mackerel set~~~

I *love* chicken skin done yakitori style. Absolutely fantastic with a cold beer too.

A psychotic Yoshida is fine too. Absolutely marvellous when she imitated Shana-tan’s ‘uruchai!’ and cursed ‘chikusho!’ Ah, Ayako Kawasumi needs to play MOAR bad girl roles!!

And poor Yukari reminds me of Tenma. -_-;

Late late Shakugan no Shana: Love and Hot Springs Excursion post. I actually enjoyed this scene with Wilhelmina the most, partly for how the melon pan elicits tender emotions from her and the bread illuminates her relationship with Shana, e.g. before their Castle in the Sky was attacked, she was agonizing over whether to buy some for Shana as she didn’t want to spoil her but, then again, she badly wanted to.

Yoshida is sooo much more interesting when she’s a candidate for Hinamizawa residency (as in Shana-tan) or combative as above. Her hapless mode may be moé for some but it obscures her fighting spirit for me. Oh, I forgot she hasn’t gotten Raising Heart from Khamsin yet.

Since this OVA is centred on a supporting character, Oga-chan, I thought I’d sing the praises of Kimiko Nakamura. She’s got a really foxy look and attitude which is quite oh-la-la~~~. Utterly hilarous how she misinterpreted Shana’s answer as meaning that she’d go out with any Harima or so.

Oga-chan conforms to the Hinano rule but it’s quite strange how she’d still think that Tanaka x Satou were Y4L when they had just tried to peek at the girls’ side of the rotenburo. Nitpicking aside her panicked running and gasps of horror got me LOL. The producers should have given her a unique anxiety sound effect along Kanon lines.

Like TedFox, I thought the ED switch was a really cute touch. Shana’s glaring from the background, like in the eyecatch, was added to the humour though I’d suspect that unhappiness would be reflected in those, like Novastorm, who were disappointed by the lack of Shana in this OVA. I didn’t mind all that much given that the OVA didn’t intend to advance the plot but I don’t think Oga-chan had the kind of fanbase to justify centring an OVA on her, unlike say the focus on Teletha ‘Tessa’ Testarossa in the FMP! TSR OVA. Actually I would have loved a Wilhelmina In Her Youth OVA but then I suppose there wouldn’t be much Shana in that either.
