When Erica’s review pointed out that Milano and Alita would have kissed at the end if they were a straight couple, I agreed and immediately thought of the above scene. But given BEE TRAIN’s penchance for yuri subtext, I was expecting a little more and a tad disappointed that they had nerfed the scene from the end of the manga where Milano asks to share Alita’s bed.
Even though there’s no definitive ‘They are a couple’ moment (e.g. for StrikerS, there was the Big Bed scene though for me it was when Mari thought that Vivio was Nanoha x Fate’s natural born daughter), their mutual concern for each other’s safety and willingness to put self in harm’s way to save the other was amply showcased in Ep 5 too shows a very strong bond at the very least. The way that Milano says ‘Himesama’ can be pretty spinge-tingly-in-a-good-way though. :P
At least it would have been nice for them to end that sunset scene with Milano and Alita fooling around and then transiting/finishing with this photo.

Main Office: ‘Because you have yet to reach the primary objective of ComiKet 72, I cannot release your limiter to $$ rank. Will a single $ be enough?’
Zyl: *thinks for a while* Hai! Jyubun ya! ;)
TBC. Apologies, had a really late night last night. Update of yesterday’s Akiba III and Ikebukuro adventure when I get back later.
[Edit: Updates after the jump.]

Santa’s Little Helper muses that Onionhead Akamatsu hasn’t gotten beyond a certain steel door. Alita and Milano have a lover’s quarrel after the former accidentally breaks a precious memento. Alita goes off goblin slaying in a huff but Milano gets Megged kidnapped by a giant robo and is then interrogated by Knife Loli-robo as to how the princess suddenly became strong. Riding to the rescue, Alita drops her weapons as a result of Milano’s life being threatened. But Big Brother Prince Kaitou returns and saves the day.

Doctor Akamashi makes his getaway under the cover of the other goth-loli robot’s MLRS. Alita takes the throne while Milano assumes her meido identity. Comedy ensues from the bounty-hunter-turned-princess’ reluctance to take on her new role, exacerbated by her lack of knowledge about court etiquette. The doctor makes another attempt on her life with a new giant minion. The Murder Princess goes berserker FTW but is stopped by Milano as she charges a young girl and her puppy.
Enjoyed this episode for the action. Not so hot on the social misfit comedy as it seemed a tad predictable. Hints of political scheming too with scytheman Dominikov questioning Santa’s Little Helper Shudoo after what Akamashi is after. Of course, the yuri tension and development of Alita x Milano’s relationship was the highlight for me.
