An Evergreen Retro Anime Shipment

First anime DVD purchase (from The Right Stuf International, who else? :P) for this year. In contrast to my 2007 purchases, this batch consists of shows that first aired back in the ancient times: 1995 (Slayers, Evangelion), 1996 (Nadesico, Slayers Next) and 1997 (Slayers Try).

This wave of nostalgia was very much promoted by recent anime movings and shakings though: the announcement of Slayers Revolution, fapping to Evangelion 1.01 and seeing lots of Nadesico in Gurren Lagaan.

BTW I was intrigued by Evirus’ question too and it seems that ‘Martian Succcesor Nadesico’ *is* the official translation used at the Bandai Channel japanese website. Then again, ‘Martian Successor’ sounded Japlish enough to me that I tended to treat it as a result of the Japanese companies rather than the US licensee.

P.S. I bought the Lunar Legend Tsukihime boxset too but, being a 2003 series, it didn’t quite fit this post which selects on the dependent variable FTW!

Man, I always forget about Nadesico when I get all nostalgic about anime of the past but it really was awesome.

Wallpaper is up in the next post! :)

I might retro-blog Nadesico and other older series as a summer project. A post for an episode might be a bit much so perhaps I’ll do it by DVD like I did with Escaflowne. Ideas, anyone?
