This episode did have an important development - Miharu’s bargain with Yoite to abandon his mastery of his Apathy no Jutsu and use the Shinrabanshou to violate the Temporal Prime Directive. But, as Aroduc pointed out, the pacing was snooze inducing and even totali’s love power was dented by the surfeit of emo.
Awww Raimei’s attempt at consolation and counselling got brushed aside by a lack of evidence to guarantee her ‘Kitto daijabou’ - how rude! She should have just referred to Nanoha Takamachi and Sakura Kinomoto for how that spell *always* works.
Kabitzin first comment in totali’s post said it best. As does the current Sea Slugs! tagline: ‘Can I have that Childhood Promise in Writing?’ But at least Miharu’s memory was shown to be wiped in the opening scene of the first episode and its recovery should be more definitive than in the tortuous Love Hina manga. Hopefully Nabari no Ou will end better than the Love Hina manga too.
Every time I hear that line where Raimei declares that she’ll be a companion (味方) of Miharu, I’m sooo just waiting for her to continue with ‘and a champion of justice!!!’ Not exactly The Seven Samurai though.
Why didn’t Miharu bring up the ‘I’m not going to use the hijitsu. Period.’ argument against Yoite’s three choices? But it was good to see him resolve to grant Yoite’s wish in exchange for the lives of his companions. And I’m sure Thobari-sensei will be megas dekkai JEALOUSY of Miharu’s strange new bond with the Kira Tomato user. Oh BTW did anyone else go: ‘Sayonara Zetsubo Sensei LOL!’ when Yamase *finally* went pop goes the weasel? Plus I did applaud blonde merc (now with four leave clover headband for extra good luck!) Yukimi for trying to skive off searching for Yoite. And he was right in the end too!
The nonchalant return LOL. But Shiratama looks positively evil. I’m starting to suspect that Miharu’s cat is actually the hidden Banten leader that Thobari-sensei’s been standing in; a sneaky guy who had also learnt Kotarou’s henjitsu and who will reveal himself in the finale like Murong Bo, only to be smacked down by the much greater power of White Devil brand Miracle Gro.
I’m ok with the Love Hina turn if it means a kunoichi and/or samurai harem will be established.
There doesn’t seem to be much Miharu harem potential now - unless you count Thobari too. >_<
