The new Eva is more of a Studio Khara production (new studio that Anno created for his new Eva movies).

Still, the movie looks good… and I wonder what sort of makeover Asuka will get, after what they did with Rei after that Third Angel incident.
Eva’s a great show, but the movie really doesn’t seem that much different or that much better. I’m sure if I had a splitscreen of the two I’d see the differences of quality, but for a movie that doesn’t even look as good as Macross Frontier or Gundam 00, it’s a bit of a letdown.
Epi, I suppose the nostalgia factor played a big role but the Yashima operation was definitely a big level uppu over the original.
Haesslich, ah the ole Rei vs Asuka fanwars… Stripey likes his lolis sweet and cute, Rei is too much of a cold fish for him. I’m still a Rei fan after all these years because she’s a great silent chara - talk softly carry big stick, silent waters run deep etc etc etc And these kinds of silent charas only work when played with restraint and finesse, Megumi Hayashibara did that to such achingly wonderful perfection for Rei.
