A few rough translation notes on ashita wa docchida?’s StrikerS Nano! parodies of the first Sound Stage. AFAIK while scanlation of the main body (001-182) covering the TV series has been completed, I’ve only seen a translated version (thread) of the first comic (original) of the first Sound Stage thus far.
Hope I’m not reinventing the wheel (and doing so rather badly in the process); corrections will be greatly appreciated.
No.2 Suzuka (11/27)
S: Hayate-cha~n
H: Suzuka-chan!S: It’s been a while!
H: Long time no see, Suzuka-chan.H: Been well?
S: Yeap. I’ve been good.H: Your front has been really grown ([can't really see the small script] how many centimetres?)
S: That has got nothing to do with being well!Hayate’s way of greeting.
The creators have got their own comments underneath the comics in their homepage but it’s too much work to translate them all. Instead I’ll just add my own comments after the blockquotes of the comics’ dialogue. In the StrikerS Nano! universe, Hayate’s character has two fetishes. The first is a love of cosplay (extended from her delight in designing her knights’ armours) and the second was boobs (from the A’s Sound Stages and first StrikerS Sound Stage). Kana Ueda is really a great choice to voice Hayate. Besides the Kansai accent, Ueda effortlessly manages a tone that conveys girly cheerfulness and dirty old man tanuki mischief at the same time.
No.3 Nanoha’s Mother (11/28)
N: Ah, mom? This is Nanoha.
S&T: Eh!?N: Ahahaha, yes, [something about getting off work and trying cake]
T: It’s obvious that there is such an existence…
S: …as Nanoha’s mother.S: What kind of person…
T: …is Nanoha’s mother?N: Right, just a little stop in along our way… what’s the matter with you two?
T: Nothing is the matter!Just imagination and delusion can accompany a meal of three bowls of plain rice, right?
Even invincible aces are still human. Or at least they’re still human in origin. There seems to be a double layer of irony here as both Subaru and Teana’s mothers are deceased so perhaps they might have assumed that Nanoha may have a similar Sad Background Story. Luckily Signum, Shari and co showed them the flashback clips from the first season and A’s.
No.4 You didn’t have a hand in this, did you? (11/28)
Sig: Shamal, you didn’t have a hand in cooking this, did you?
Sha: Ah! Signum! How could you…H: Just a bit of help? Like chopping the ingredients?
Sha: Sure ♥ Hayate-chan understands after all.V: If it’s just chopping…
Sig: …it’s alright.
H: Want to try the taste?V & Sig: It’s not alright..
S: Shamal-sensei…
Sha: You’re mistaken! It’s not Shamal-sensei’s fault!Not persuasive.
Another one of those motifs that grows into a huge joke just from a throwaway line from Vita in an A’s Sound Stage about enjoying family life once again, even Shamal’s awful cooking. The other two major points about Shamal in the StrikerS Nano! universe are her being a ‘yanmama’ (being mistaken for being Hayate’s deliquent underaged, Yankee mother by the hospital doctor) and joining Hayate as her accomplice in dressing up their hapless victims, Signum and Vita.
Thanks for the links! Always nice to see more translations of these strips. I don’t have a link to it at the moment, but one of the most hilarious I’ve seen to date was one where someone picked up Raising Heart, and was assaulted by mental calls of “Destroy! Destruction! Kill!” etc.
Seems so fitting considering how much stuff ends up getting blown up, but so wrong at the same time, heh.
Ah, that’s Quarter Ice shop’s No.83 comic. I particularly liked how cruel they are to all to characters, especially poor Teana. LOL
We’ve got translations done for most of the SS01 comics and extra comics in the first tankoubon, but what’s holding back the scanlations is mostly me being too busy/lazy to tlcheck and edit, or organize the effort. Any volunteers? ^^

@Zyl, I love Kana Ueda’s voice acting. That kansai accent is just magnificient :D
I think they owe the fans a short oav of Nanoha introducing vivo to her family. Maybe as a Christmas special. And they should defintely anime some of the sound stage.
selkirk, great to hear that the SS01 translations will be forthcoming! I can’t really see myself volunteering for the tlcheck/edit endeavour though esp with my quality of translation (or lack therefore -_-;;) on shameless display here.
