Wordpress 2.5 FUD

Being a technophobe, the backend stuffs of blogging confirms my belief in the late Arthur C. Clarke’s third law: ‘Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic.’ As such, even a normal update fills me with FUD.

Like many other self-hosted animu bloggers, I’m seeing the ‘A new version of WordPress is available! Please update now.’ underneath the menu bar. But I’m going to sit tight with WP 2.3.3 for the time being. Mainly because it’s not at all clear that the upgrade won’t break my theme. The 2.5 theme compatibility list includes K2 but specifically RC5. However only RC4 is available at the K2 download page and, at the time of this post, only RC3 was announced on the main page.

I’d really appreciate any input, feedback, advice from fellow anime bloggers about their 2.5 upgrade experience - especially K2 theme users.

I had no problem with wp 2.5 and the latest version of k2 (from the nightlies)

Unlikely to break major plugins, but it’s hard to generalise. The admin screen itself had a big revamp as well.

I use the oldie “Connections”, which I won’t change because I’ve been messing with its php code way too much for comfort.

Anyway, I upgraded and have two issues:
    - WP-Postratings 2.30b2 doesn’t register ratings accordingly. Waiting for an update.
    - Image uploading doesn’t work (as seen here, but, seeing that new answer, it might have been my fault.

New admin screen is great, speed has improved, plugin autoupdate is sweet… on the whole, I like 2.5.

    Just upgraded to WP 2.5

Working through some of the issues right now… LMB Quicktags produces two comment boxes and plugin can’t be deactivated afterwards… needed to delete the php file itself.

K2 RC5 r468 stylesheet is empty! Trying to figure out how to change the link colour back to glorious Lunamaria pink. [Solved with the help of this great K2 styling tutorial]

    LMB Quick tags problem fixed!!

Looks like it was a careless mistake on my part, copying and pasting from the wrong part of the readme.txt
