Hayate no Gotoku 52

Hayate, Nagi and Maria holiday on Mykonos; our hero time slips back to a time of an even loli-er Nagi to save her from mafia assassins (whose Italian speech consists of a string of pasta names LOL). Meanwhile Nishizawa and our great pinkhaired goddess Hinagiku visit Cappadocia and the Parthenon.

The ‘Nishizawa and Hinagiku Go On Holiday Together’ story is an extended version of the omake at the end of manga volume 8.

And we get some fairly pointless humour about Hina’s fear of heights.

The studio has added a scene which will probably spawn even more buckcake jokes. orz

This kind of reminds of a Tintin comic where Captain Haddock has a similar relationship with his llama…

I was wondering how Hinagiku had taken the plane after she skipped the school beach trip. I can imagine all the BDSM jokes and doujins already just based on the straps alone… orz The Terrible Trio then mention that the trip will take them through Athens and that they’ll eventually join up with Hayate and co at Mykonos… which is what the ED has been showing all the while.

The Parthenon is, of course, the temple to the Glory of the goddess Athena.

I didn’t watch all 52 episodes so I must have missed the episode where this flashback comes from. Could someone kindly enlighten me please?

This flashback fills me with despair. It’s a pretty important scene from Vol.14 of the manga where Hina finally admits to Nishizawa that she likes Hayate, even though she had promised to support Nishizawa earlier. It’s a big scene in the manga because it’s the first time Hinagiku admits her feelings for Hayate to someone else and it also marks a major milestone in Nishizawa and Hinagiku’s friendship.

Given how the anime has jumbled the chronological order of what’s happened, I’m not at all hopeful that Mentar’s speculation of a Hina-centric fillet of manga while form the basis of an OVA. ;_;

I was also a bit upset with this scene because while it’s nice that Hinagiku and Nishizawa are becoming closer, it seems to suggest to me that we won’t get to see the wonderful scene from Vol.10 of the manga where Hayate helps Hinagiku see the scenery from the Student Council balcony for the first time, a crucial point when Hina is finally able to admit to herself that she likes Hayate.

As the nice boat sails to Mykonos, I’m wondering what the next season of Hayate no Gotoku will bring. If this episode is any indication, it looks like Synergy SP is going to continue to push the Hayate x Nagi angle. *Sigh*

Zetsubou shita! This episode has left me in despair! No Hina scene from Vol 10 leaves me in despair!

It looks like SynergySP will still go their own way with the story, alas. This means less quality Hina and Maria time in favor of random diversions.

By the way, was anyone else surprised by how easily the Baka Rangers/Hina’s posse bonded easily with the Hamster? Alas about how the second season’s likely to go.

Can’t say I was surprised since the Terrible Trio are all rather friendly people to start with. And if their leader, Hina, accepts Hamster, there’s no way they’d go against that.

The time slip part was directly copied from the last two episodes of Kimagure Orange Road. They didn’t bother hiding that by making the hat motive prominent.

Zyl: Even then, she fits in pretty well. It’s kinda scary, really - the Baka Rangers are like some of the most normal girls at Hakuou.

maglor: That’s from the manga, which also lifted it from Kimagure Orange Road… as a tribute. The whole manga’s basically references to everything and everyone while setting up a romantic comedy in between gags.

    Damn… two links for Hinagikuism.

Hina pictures. Nothing but Hina pictures. Also must suppress ecchi comments about the tube-top and that outfit…

    Thanks Haesslich.

Must suppress ecchi comments about footjob. XD

Zyl: No need. Probably quite a few people have thought about that sorta thing with those fanservice-licious eyecatches. Hina is proof that attractive female characters don’t need to have a figure that puts Aphrodite’s to shame. Or needs to be psycho-yandere ot ‘tsundere’ like Shana or Nagi (or Louise) to do it either.

So.. with Hayate 52 now uploading, I feel I can finally comment:

Do _not_ worry about the flashback. IT DID NOT HAPPEN YET. And it means one more thing: Since episode 52 wildly jumps around in the timeline, the good news is that it WILL happen. In other words, we’ll see it in the next season :)

Mildly spoilerish explanation about the ferris wheel scene:

    ▼ Show

In other words, this flashback only proves that we WILL see the full Hina/Hamster arc. It DID happen. It only didn’t air yet :)

That’s what Season 2 is for (which was announced in this episode too)

  10. 10 Zyl

Mentar, thanks. The cloud of despair has lifted a tad. Hope springs eternal for season 2. :)

The Cloud of Despair should be _completely_ gone now. We know due to the flashback that this particular scene WILL happen. And it only makes sense if everything leading up to it will also happen.

Yes, it didn’t happen in the first 52 eps, and I really didn’t like that. However, this is a clear confirmation that it will happen (since it HAS happened, just not yet).

If you ask me - airing this in ep52 is pretty much a confirmation that the studio is very much aware that the hardcore fan block DEMANDS the Hina/Hamster arc. And they tease us with it.

Yes. And if there are any fans in the studio, they WILL animate Chapters 75+ in the second season. The whole point of Hina’s guilt is that she’s really a nice person, so she didn’t want to backstab the Hamster… and so, she doesn’t. But at the same time, she can’t keep lying to herself about her feelings towards Hayate either.

We still need Volume 10 animated, though - Hina-Lacus-Meer appearance, banzai!

And yes, Chapter 79’s probably launched a few Hina and her Mom doujins… or Hayate x Hina Stepmother doujins…
