Bamboo Blade 23

Nadir.

Super emo indeed. The club mascot Tama-chan is in a funk because of her loss. The club’s Engage Link of Miya Miya and Dan come under strain.

The very existence of the kendo club is threatened by the actions of the absent but still on the nominal roll male members. It’s become more than just a campaign for Ishida to keep his job.

Ishida-sensei pushing the decision of whether or not to (retroactively) expel Toyoma and Iwasa onto Kirino was really unfair. Cue Shinji ‘I mustn’t run away (but will end up doing so)’ Ikari. And with Tama’s letter of resignation, enter Yeats.
It was quite a heavy and depressing episode but also an episode that showed the skill of the script writing team. Things have been building up to this point since the beginning – whether it be the invincible Tama-chan being defeated and cast down, the role of Toyama and Iwasa, trouble in paradise between Miya Miya and Dan. But the seeds of recovery are also all there and kick in during the next episode. One sign that I caught my attention the most in this episode was probably Ishida’s only redeeming decision to tell Kirino *and* Sayako so that the latter can support her even though she isn’t a club office holder.
And because they’d make such a lovely couple too. :3

Coolest one-word episode review I can remember, and oh so truthful ;)
Ahaha~~ Thanks. :)
It helped a lot that I saw Ep 24 before I posted on this so I was sure 23 really was the lowest point.
