Finally a Hinagiku-centric episode! And one that ups the doki-doki factor between her and Hayate. But methinks this feels too little, too late.

I just loved it how, in the manga, Hina’s step mom really took to Hayate, wanting to dress him in girly clothes throughout his stay with her. Chuckles during this scene because of that.

LOLOLOLOLOL. I didn’t really enjoy the series because I disliked Narusegawa but this pun is just sooo good.

There are lots of reasons why Hayate and Hinagiku make a good couple. Similar backgrounds, similar hardworking go-getter attitudes. But this scene also illustrates that there’s romantic tension between the two. Hayate’s attitude towards Nagi is just loyalty and ’she’s just a kid’.
Hina getting pissed off Hayate, re: his surprise at her display of femininity, and how the episode breaks the ice, recasts the typecast reminded me a tad of SHUFFLE! Ep 7 when Rin is reminded that (1) Asa is a girl and (2) she is very attractive.

Standard date stuff followed by the cause of Hina’s irritation and accident mini-confession all rolled into one rolling out.

And almost a reset to their first contact but with Hayate properly catching Hina-chan this time. A new beginning?

All’s well that ends well. And Nagi doesn’t suspect a thing! Mwahahaha!!

Some bunnies have all the luck…

Ah yes, this is probably what Hayate will be imagining the manga when he’s taking a bath in the tub that Hina-chan uses~~ One day I will get more manga-related posts done. orz
HAPPY (BELATED) BIRTHDAY, HINA-CHAN!
Some bunnies have all the luck indeed ^_^
Well, it’s not remotely as worthwhile as the manga, but still a nice episode. More Hina is always a good thing, though - admittedly - this episode felt like a bribe.
If there’s more Hina-love in the manga, I really should read it. She and Hayate are totally the cutest couple, and it’s sort of sad that they’ll probably stick him with Nagi or something. ;_;
Jobrill: It’s almost a given, really, as she’s the main character… even if she doesn’t understand his background, or how he feels about many things, as she doesn’t have that life experience he does. Nor does she particularly WANT it - she just wants Hayate to love her because he said so, or so she thought.
Hina’s a much, much more elegant tsundere…. and one who looks good doing it, unlike the twin-tailed one. It’s a pity we’ll never see that part of the manga animated (Hayate down on his luck - again - and ending up in a replay of his first meeting with Nagi… but with Hina).
Nagi is like a little loli female Densha Otoko with a bit more gaming hikkimori mixed in. Isn’t that the otaku dream girl?
Mentar, nothing wrong with bribery and corruption if I can have MOAR Hinagiku. ;)
Jobrill, I’m inclined to agree with Haesslich that Nagi has a higher chance simply because she’s the main heroine of the series. But on the other hand, I suspect that Hayate won’t choose a gf i.e. typical harem ending. Best case scenario, of course, is that Nagi grows up enough to realize and accept that Hinagiku is the best girl for Hayate.
Kabitzin, but Hayate isn’t an otaku. And that’s a Konata conundrum too - why aren’t more otaku guys going out with more otaku girls?
Zyl: This is the same girl who, upon hearing Hayate was at Nishizawa’s apartment, suggested pulling out the Requiem Cannon to vaporize the site from orbit, to eliminate the competition… and who constantly beats Hayate whenever she thinks he’s straying, even though he doesn’t see her that way. Hell, he’s closer to seeing KLAUS as a potential mate than that… as witnessed by the way Nagi’s ‘I will be a cold tsundere to make Hayate like me’ plan backfired.
Kabitzin: The problem is she’s too loli for most otaku, and too otaku for the rest who WOULD go with her; and most men don’t like being beaten by their mates at such things. Now if she was just rich and doting, and willing to spend on the otaku’s hobbies.. then she’d be a dream girl. IIRC, Genshiken commented on the matter (female otaku not seeing male otaku) due to the reason that they couldn’t stand the poor hygiene and other bad habits of the male otaku that they DID meet… and their egos wouldn’t be able to handle the women upstaging them each time. Otaku prefer elegant tsunderes who will melt and dote on them… which is probably why that type of haremette is so popular right now.
Mentar: We were lacking much Hina the past few episodes, so this was a sop… but a welcome one, sorta like the Maria daito episode in the anime, which included a Suigintou reference. Mmm… Gin-chan.
