Unlike Omni, I’m not a huge fan of Ami Koshimizu’s work in Otome - mainly (and probably unfairly) because I really disliked the Nina Wang character she played. But the studio really seems to likes her charcter design long time (since HiME). Minorin as Raquel Mayol was a blast though. I just love the way she teases Shion and is generally very chirpy. Even her ‘Materialise!’ was cute and upbeat. Will be great to see Minorin *not* get typecast into (relatively) silent chara roles.
Well, lots of questions that I hope will get answered. Why is everyone after Sfir? Why does her eyes change colour (like Bruce) when M-9 is activated? Who’s the lucky guy who’ll sprog Rena with Arinko? (Oddly upbeat mood of this series given that we know that Bruce and Rena are killed in the opening minutes of Otome.) Kid is the next John Smith!? And most importantly, how did Rena hide her Windbloom Otome uniform’s long sleeves and stockings under the sleeveless and short skirt of that meido uniform? A new physics of meidofuku like hammerspace???
I think she hid the other half of the sleeves in the puffy parts of the maid uniform myself… but who knows, really? Still, the ‘Nina the cat’ chasing thing… well, the show’s fun, and better than the OVA for Zwei, but still feels a tad recycled.
And there’s no Kajiura music - but thank god, it’s not like the last half of Otome or most all of Zwei… yet. This is Sunrise, so I have to give them time to screw up. It’s interesting to see how both Arika and her mother have a tendency to burn out the Robes they’re wearing though. I guess we know where Arinko got THAT trait from.
Sifr started out real nicely I think. The music though is a letdown…The Mai- franchise is just not the same without the pumping, intense operatic music that woman provides. I love how they made lots of connections as if to conclude some missing plotlines in the original Otome especially who’s parents are we watching right now!
Oh and BOO! No Mai Nakahra character!

Discounting CyberFormula (when she was voiced by Ayako-sama), she was voiced by both Chigusa (Otomo Ep 1) and Mi-wiki (current series).
Where’s the Yukana character (purple haired bitchy loli)?

Hmmm… International Women’s Day not equal International Oneechan Day. ;) But I won’t be surprised if the Japanese do have one of the latter. LOL

Anyhow, for a while, I almost couldn’t bear to watch this for some strangeeeee reason.. (probably because of what happens to Rena.. ). Although, I’ve got to admit, Shion = win.
