This arc has been so successful in building up Kirino as an interesting character who is not just captain because of her initial persistence in maintaining the club or even her relatively high level of skill but also because of her stout and loving heart.

On the other hand, I couldn’t help but think of that English saying about how football (’soccer’ to the Americans) is not a matter of life and death; it’s much more important than that. Also the scene in Azumanga when Nyamo offers to buy juice for her class to reward them for their effort even though they had lost to Yukari’s class, just as they are all cheered up, Yukari goes over and screams at them: Why are you guys so happy!? You’re the loser team! Loser team Make teamu, Make teamuuu~~~!!! Of course, if Konishi had done that, she’d really be obliterated.

Like Totali, I’m amused by how many hidden talents the Incredible Dan The Man has. By the end of the series, we’ll probably find out that not only does he have the book smarts, kendo potential, understands women, reserves huge amounts of Black Power, artistic drawing (next will be nude still life), he is also as rich as Nagi and is hung like a horse. OTL
LOLLLLLLL Dan-kun is like the anti stereotypical male lead of anime. He even has the power to tame Miya Miya…who else could do that!
