Bamboo Blade 15

Before setting off to the training camp, Tama-chan tells her father not to touch her DVD recorder no matter what. The five girls from the first match arc (Eps 5, 6 and 7) arrive to find the home team cleaning the pool.

No, it’s not some kind of exotic training technique; Ishida-sensei had to agree this to get permission for training camp, thanks to Baba Yaga again.

Old rivalries are revived among the girls and eventually Satori’s clumsiness results in wet t-shirt fan service.

Training goes off without a hitch and they go to a public bath (but no fan service - No Good Job!). LOL at how Toraji described the girls’ circle of stretching as the Yamanote and then the Chuo line. Dan joins in the speculation, in the comment thread of my previous post, about whether Yoshikawa-sensei is interested in Ishida. Like me, Yuuji can’t really see it that way. To which Dan says that Yuuji doesn’t understand the heart of women. Dan The Man has spoken! LOL

LOL also at the dinner discussion when Tama-chan asks why there isn’t any miso soup with the curry rice and everyone thinks it’s weird. I support you, Tama-chan - I like miso soup with katsu curry too! Kenzaburo brings sushi and Tama-chan declares that it is impossible for curry and sushi to go together.

Another highlight was how Akemi tried to escape for a date but ended up colliding with Tama-chan’s stalker dad (who seems to have something against Yuuji - something to do with his family?).

In the evening, the girls play all sorts of games including speed assembling a shinai, Saya’s guitar performance getting cut short, enjoying snacks and drinks and, of course, the compulsory pillow fight. Tama-chan doesn’t really know how to join in until encouraged by Kirino and getting caught in the pillow crossfire.

Later, after everyone has gone to sleep, Tama-chan finds Kirino practising on the rooftop. Kirino thanks Tama-chan for making the club come alive and that her arrival changed things. That’s the Tama-chan Power!

In the morning, Tama-chan is first to wake (super creepy Andou sleeping with her eyes open LOL) and, fired up by Blade Braver’s heroism, gives a most fiery Ohayo Gozaimasu (good morning)!

A happy end to the training camp. No doramas or crises or big revelations. Very slice of life. Still, it was nice to see the girls from the other teams and for both teams to get to know each other better - perhaps they will meet in the battle grounds of the Inter High later.

So the true Dark Lord in the preview segment is Yuri ‘Natto’ Andou. Of course, her true nemesis must be the one and only Miya Miya!

I think Tama-chan’s dad saw Yuuji as the only “viable” man in the camp, plus Yuuji’s usually by Tama-chan’s side.

Looking forward for next ep. It will a fun fight.

No mention of Kirino’s Mom collapsing at the end of the ep?

ROFL at Dan-kun going to sleep instantly as his head hits the pillow… *SNORE* …heh

Za_Paper, doh! I forgot! That’s probably the reason why the next episode looks like it’s focused on Kirino. I’m guessing that her mom will be alright though.

Haha, this episode looks funny. Andou sleeping with her eyes open reminds me of the Lord of the Rings >> Gandalf. Can’t download this episode yet though cos I’m capped. Argh, I downloaded too much anime this month =.= My bad, my bad.

I wonder if they will do a rematch between upgraded Azuma and Tamaki as Azuma is tagged as only girl who can match up against Tamaki.

I really like these other girls. I don’t know if they’re major players in the rest of the story, but I find them darn entertaining.

For a show that came across as being about nothing really (or a bit of randomness), Bamboo Blade has got me hooked. I’m glad we are going to get into more about Kirino with the next episode. Out of all the characters, I find her the most interesting.
