First off, a big ‘Thank You!’ to moyism for providing the raw!
Given the preview in the previous episode, I was really worried that Oga-chan would be Fukuda-ed. Glad she’s alright but I actually did squirm a bit when her role in this episode literally cost her an arm and a leg. Ripping sound so augh.
All the wind and changes in the lighting gradient/levels made it really difficult to get good screencaps (or make composite ones) during some of the action scenes but, of course, what I really want to know is: Why is Pheles so special to Wirhelmina?
Absolutely love Phele’s chara design with that long green hair and hot bod. Still not quite used to Inoue Marina’s voice though I’m not quite sure why Totali expected it to be funny (funny as in ‘weird’ or ‘LOL’?). [Also see Aroduc and Omni for screencaps and summaries.]
Shana and Wirhelmina pwns the opposition. Wirhelmina gets more love from me for her bondage bandage powers…
…which has +3 on Margery’s Charisma. Yeah, it’s those ole Rei Ayanami fashion vibes again.

…and then stroking her cheek, saying that she was glad that Pheles was alive and Pheles recognizing her… all the while with Pheles’ hands bound with those bondage bandages. *nosebleeds over my keyboard* I think if Pheles had called Wirhelmina, ‘Oneesama’, I would have died of happiness. Ahaha~~
I have *always* approved of breast feeding in public. But never as much as RIGHT NOW.
Also rather forcibly recalled that Mai Otome episode that hinted at Tomoe’s ‘being babied’ fetish and Shizuru’s yoshi~ yoshi~ orz
And this one reminded me of that scene in Crimson Climax when Kasumi grumbles at Hotaruko that she’d wish the latter would leave her and Misa alone. OTL

Overall, an action-filled episode that also confirmed that the silver flame isn’t Pheles’ doing and also Fumina foreboding for the coming episodes. Looks that there will be more chances for Wirhelmina to molest mother the newly arrived green haired hottie so looking forward to that very much.
How could it not be funny! I was waiting for Chiaki to pop out of nowhere, pick up Margery’s big bear butt, and throw it straight into Pheles’ face!!!
Also LOL finally someone who got that screenshot that I’ve been wanting to make fun of (I didn’t want to do it myself because I thought Wilhelmina carrying her cradle was better). I mean…what is Wilhelmina doing to Pheles right there….really? …and it looks like I’m not the only one who got those vibes. ;)

I have a nearly clearly idea of the reason of that relation between Wilhemina and Pheles.
I have read that Pheles save Wilhemina’s life in the past and the two become good friends, but that’s all I remember and no, I don’t know frow where I find that info
Haven’t taken a look at the raw, but it’s looking good! I had this whole post written up about Shana II through 12 episodes, but looks like I’ll scrape that and rewrite it to include 13. :D Completely agree about Pheles’ character design. It has to be one of my favorites so far.
For some reason I had hoped Pheles to not be so amply endowed and called Wirhelmina “nii-san” instead… erm wait, I take that back.
I could very well convert to the onee denomination of siscon worship given my growing affections for Margery this season. It doesn’t help when the very womanly Pheles join the club. I need more Konoe goodness before it’s too late. XD
Perhaps Totali was referencing Pheles as Kana, and that Chiaki would show up as a cameo in Shana and throw bear Margery at her.

Zyl: AGear_to_Ax is right, since Pheles saved Wilhemina’s life in the past. The story is told as a flashback preceding the Misaki Festival, if I remember it correctly. Too bad it was never animated.
Oh, and minor continuity error there… Remember that in the previous season, Eita and Keisaku could only run around in a fuzetsu because of those enchanted book markers that Margery gave them — which showed those orrery-like sanskrit borders rotating around them. Here, we don’t see those at all, nor do we see the blue aura around Yoshida as well (from her amulet received from Khamsin).
Tch, another oops from JC Staff, after that other continuity slip-up (EVERYONE calling Shaha, erm, Shana, instead of Yukari).
re: continuity errors. In Ep 3, Yoshida says that she *always* carries
Raising HeartKhamsin’s amulet with her. I assume that Eita and Keisaku do the same for their beloved anee-san’s bookmarks.About Yuuji’s classmates calling Shana ‘Shana’ instead of ‘Yukari’, that’s one of Kabitzin’s questions too. But I agree with Mentar’s comment that the class just picked it up from Yuuji since he never calls her Yukari and everyone probably assumes ‘Shana’ is just a nickname for ‘Yukari’.
Conceivably, it could also be (ie. explained away as) an effect of Shana having “infiltrated” her “existence slot” too, as that would frankly be a very minor facet of it (compared to, say, the gross difference in appereance and personality - and one has to wonder how the original’s family adjusted themselves to the matter, nevermind now the assorted bureaucratic records etc…). Sort of having by now essentially completely overridden the old “Yukari” to the degree where she basically gets away with not even pretending to try and nobody (not “initiated” into the whole Guze stuff anyway) thinks anything off.
That “reality adjustement” shit they do seems to be pretty thorough mojo, after all.
@ Dav: isn’t “Guze no Ou” (lit. “King of Guze”) the title/rank of the big quasi-divine hitters like Alastor, Tiamat, Marcosius etc. who pretty much have to work through vessels such as the Flame Haze if they don’t want to, say, nuke everything within a few kilometers as happens if and when Alastor manifests in person onto Earth dimension (”Prime Material Plane” in D&D terms), though ?

From what I remember, Pheles is called a “Guze no Ou”, a Crimson Lord who can be considered in the same bunch as say, Merihim or the Trinity of Bal Masqué, compared to being simply a Tomogara (Denizen) such as Friagne or the Aizen twins. I’ve always thought that the more major differences between a Lord and a Denizen are that the latter are less powerful than the former and they purposelessly collect the Power of Existence just to fulfill their desires. It’s not really a necessity for a Lord to be bound to a Flame Haze. A Crimson Lord can be parasitic and feed on human beings’ Existance to survive, or symbiotic i.e. borrow the Existance from Flame Hazes and in turn providing Flame Hazes with great power.
I could be wrong and misinterpreted some terms. I’m currently overseas and I don’t have the novels with me to double check. If anyone else can confirm, that would be greatly appreciated. :)
Also from what I remember… Pheles’ background story, ugh. Forgive me for over reacting and saying this, but it’s just…wrong. No matter what angle I try to perceive it from, it just seems wrong. ><
