Bamboo Blade 8-9


It’s been great to watch how Tama-chan’s been developing as a person / character. Lots of new experiences from joining a club, making new friends from other schools, and now a part-time job. The creepy shopkeeper reminded me of Kayahara-sensei but, at least, the latter has a bijin side when eating ramen!

But Miya Miya quite effortlessly steals the scenes when she goes back and forth between Black and Pinku. If MaxFac makes a figurine (or Good Smile Nendriod) of her, they’ll definitely have to have alternate heads for her. And speaking of yandere figurines that may tempt Skane, I’ve yet to see a similar concept executed for Her Supreme Yandereness, Krazy Kaede Fuyou herself. In fact, for some reason, good SHUFFLE! figurines seem far and few but I’m still pleasantly surprised, i.e. in shock, that it’s been licensed by FUNimation!

Revolutionary Girl Hinagiku and how DVD killed my VHS Star

Thank you all for the warm welcome to the Hinagiku fan club! Prompted by Haesslich’s screencap, I picked up Hayate no Gotoku Ep 34 and was duly rewarded with the sight of Hina-chan cosplaying as (the pinkhaired) Utena of Revolutionary Girl Utena. RGU was a truly epic series (with much yuri goodness) with lots of avant garde weirdness that the benefit of hindsight has smoothed over as the years slipped by. But the pain of hundreds of USD / GBP / SGD spent on anime VHS tapes, until about 2001, still haunts my dreams and current DVD buying considerations.
