A welcome return to focusing on Tama-chan and her mad kendo skillz. Seems that it runs in the female line of the family too. I assume that her mom has passed away; how many anime main characters in non-slice-of-life series are either orphaned, with one parent missing or both parents away due to work? It seems that the parental presence needs to be absent, suspended or dysfunctional for the element of fantasy in many anime series to work.
Great to see both teams bonding over croquette. The only drawback was that it has given me a huge croquette craving. Just keep thinking of the wonderful cheese croquette from Kadoman, tucked away at the shopping arcade of the Grand Plaza Hotel. Andou with her fork and knife was a scream, as well as her cursing her date-mad teammate.
Oh man, though I can’t say I’ve seen or used VHDs, I still remember renting Japanese LDs (the first was Record of Lodoss War) from a long defunct shop on the fourth floor of Takashimaya (think the unit is occupied by a golf shop now). What bothered me slightly about this was, if Ishida had this collector’s item in his possession and was willing to give it away, couldn’t he had auctioned it online to raise some cash?

You’re absolutely right, Totali! E.g. if I wanted to sell my ’spare’ Alter Fate or MaxFac Yuki, I’d much prefer to sell them (at cost) to someone whom I know will love and cherish them.
Sadly, this talk about “someone who will love and cherish” talk reminds me of that extended BL scene in Genshiken 2 (he dropped the figure and broke the head off!!!).
