Before Mizuho Miyanokoji, Jun Watarase and Impz, there was… Aoi Futaba. Whom I shall refer to as ‘her’ since I am still in denial after all these years.

Closer, ladies, closer… [Borat voice] Yes, I like. I like very much.

You learn something in every anime episode. ‘F-chan’ - a new paradigm that goes beyond Imadori’s ‘D!’ from School Rumble. Of course, right at the other end of the spectrum of Minami Iwasaki’s DFC ‘Nothing’ from Lucky Star!

This episode was so cheesy and corny that you could make a huge maize casserole from it. Nakajima’s Shou-kun confusion was so contrived. Shou-kun following Miyuki x Natsumi back to Bokuto station (and then instanteousnly teleporting all over the station) was so predictable. But the contrivance, predictability, silliness was pure, classic YUA light entertainment and, thus, all was forgiven and made into Good, Win, and LOL.
Having Akiko Hiramatsu scream a lot throughout the episode was a bonus too.
Oh gods I remember Aoi. I also remember thinking “now this is a Man Among Men, who is not afraid to wear a skirt to stand up for his beliefs. Her beliefs. Whatever.”
This may have affected how I turned out after my teenage years.
Aoi rocks! *high five with DKellis* Especially when compared to Emily Howard. X_X
This episode is my favorite so far since it just put this weird smile on my face that just wouldn’t go away =w=b
For someone who isn’t well versed in the You’re Under Arrest franchise, I wasn’t sure about the “You’re a guy too” fansubbing.. thanks for opening up my eyes I suppose :P
The scene of Aoi changing in YUA season ep1 was the first fansub i ever seen. I just step into my university anime club and they were already showing it and i was like O_O then they reveal about Aoi and i was like >_<
IRIC part of Aoi’s backstory about crossdressing was that it was actually an official undercover assignment to catch a criminal who preyed on women - she literally was a trap!
