Nanoha doujinshi bookmark post
Just as how some people have the misperception that all anime = pr0n, I had the mistaken impression that all Nanoha doujins = OMFG IT’S THE FEDS/RCMP/MET loli-pr0n. While there is a not inconsiderable amount of that around, I’ve been fortunate to have my eyes opened to very funny non-hentai Nanoha doujin by other animebloggers and commenters as well as my visit to ComiKet 72.
This post is a bookmark post of my favourite Nanoha doujin circles with a brief comment each about their Nanoha x Fate dynamics.
Ashita wa docchida? is justly famous for A’s Nano! and Strikers Nano! that I enjoyed so much that I religiously watched the raw as it aired in order to keep up with the webcomic’s wacky tangential takes. In this universe, Nanoha is clueless about Fate’s very intense feelings despite the latter’s repeated proclamations about being Nanoha’s wife. Lots of comedy from Fate’s lustful thoughts in her NIPA~~ mode as well as her jealous hostility towards Yuuno and Subaru especially.
Quarter Ice Shop’s Deviant Girl Seriously!? Hunter Nanoha-san. There isn’t any Nanoha x Fate romance here. Comedy comes from how Nanoha treats Fate (and everyone else) on a consistently demonic basis.
Chanomi has a similar dynamic to Ashita wa docchida? but with Fate being less psychotic about wanting Nanoha’s love or at least she learns to hide it; this particular comic offers some hope however. \(^_^)/ I really like Chanomi’s art style; it has a soft feel to the lines and colours while being a good mix of cute and sexy. Will certainly be buying more of his stuff in the future after having purchased and read his hilarous SxF (Signum x Fate) work – Signum x Agito looks promising too. LOL
Tamago no ya whose work graces the roof of the famous Nanoha itasha. Nanoha x Fate are a pretty normal slightly cutesy couple who openly acknowledge their own as well as their partner’s feelings. Some blushing here and there. There’s a marvellous 4koma where an anonymous crowd gathers to creepily call out ‘kawaii!’ and ‘yuri da!’ to NxF after a public display of affection; they get their just desserts with a SLB and Zeus Zanber. The Egg Shop drawings are highly stylized; the characters have a Humpty Dumpty feel about them but it works well in bringing out their cuteness. Particular points for the very live flower on top of Subaru’s head which is a character in its own right. BTW Signum also has the hots for Fate in this universe.
Entropy Max’s Nanoha R’r and Strike Out which are in Chinese rather than Japanese and based largely on tangents from manga scenes. Nanoha x Fate are a fairly steady and openly declared couple here but Nanoha is a playgirl and Fate is the jealous one. Though there was one instance when Nanoha does get murderously jealous when she (mistakenly) thinks that Fate has cheated on her with Chrono.

Ah, Nanoha doujin… I know them well. Don’t even get me started, I could ramble forever. XD Thanks for the link to the Chanomi site, I’ve been looking for that one. I saw the pictures floating around and didn’t know where they came from.
Another really good circle is GRINP (http://grin.oops.jp/p/notice.html), who does really silly parodies. They have a pretty cool Death Note + Nanoha crossover parody that’s fun. Fate getting the Death Note and wanting a certain person all to herself… yeah. XD
My favorite Nanoha doujin circle is Parukusu (http://human_e.at.infoseek.co.jp/). :D It’s a lot of just light hearted comedy revolving around the show. And it’s sooo cute! ^^ They recently released a bound copy bundling several of their Nanoha doujin books. It’s huge and it’s the treasure of my Nanoha collection. XD
Oh! If you like yuri, you maybe have heard of Fujieda Miyabi? :D Their Nanoha doujin are really cute and sweet. And definitely pro Nanoha/Fate. XD I’m still waiting for my most recent one… taking forever to ship out. ;;
Thanks for sharing your favourites, Mandy! I’ve seen Parukusu art around but didn’t know the circle. Had no idea that Fujieda Miyabi of Iono the Fanatics and Kotonoha no Miko to Kotodama no majyo to also had Nanoha doujin – though on reflection, it isn’t that surprising.
