On another note, I found the brief Tsukasa and Konata "alone time" pretty interesting. Reminds you that it was originally just her Konata befriended, and says interesting things about where those two are on the same wavelenght. The rarity - if not outright novelty - value doesn't hurt either. (That the practical difference made by Kagami's absence largely amounts to Konata playing single-player is not of great importance.)

Also, is it just me or does Konata sound vaguely like a jilted lover when she learns Kagamin's off somewhere with classmates ? ^.^

Kagami was presumably born sullen. Bet you she was one of those babies who give people long, intense and vaguely distrustful stares and spends a lot of time looking into the middle distance deep in thought. And starts bossing people around as soon as she learns to speak. (Following that train of thought Tsukasa would have then been of the bright sunny puppy-dog variety; the resulting mental image of the two together as tiny tots is pretty omega kawaii...)

Yutaka and Minami are made of digital awesome and Chuck Norris win already. And that despite the latter having had a total screen time of like two minutes thus far... hardcore, man. d-^_^-b

Having suddenly gotten a de facto little sister (who seems to idolize her a bit to boot) appears to have suddenly brought out Konata's responsible streak (and likely given her a minor satori concerning how "big sister" Kagami is put together - to whom in any case she duly goes to whine about the pressure, true to form...). I'd imagine her logic went roughly so that while it's purely her own business what she does with her life, giving her impressionable young cousin weird ideas (and potentially screwing up her grades on the side, as Yutaka probably doesn't share Konata's ability to reliably "wing it" in exams) isn't really okay. Konata at times seems to be downright painfully aware of how little she has in common with the majority of her peers after all.

If they've been in regular contact Konata might actually be more of a sister-figure to Yutaka than Yui to a degree by the virtue of being around the same age. Yui is after all something like a decade older than Yutaka, in essence of a different generation entirely and living in a whole different world, while Konata only has, what, two or so years on her and is hence fundamentally easier (or even possible in the first place) to relate to.

I have to confess that whenever I rewatch that photo album scene in Ep 10, I always think of Stripey x Nauzron (who have just gotten married - gratz). Therefore Souichirou getting married isn't all that strange to me. :P And I second what Watchman said about Yui - she's quite a reckless person but she also seems to family-oriented and kind.

And we never get to meet Miyuki's dad either. There are some pretty hilarous 4komas in the manga where Miyuki's mom is angry with Souichirou for describing Miyuki as moé LOL
