While there has indeed been Ikuto x Suzu development, my interest in the series has been flagging of late. I think I’d prefer it if a credible rival was built up against Suzu (preferably Rin) but I just don’t see that coming, given that Suzu is clearly the promised girl. Another not so good sign is that the manga starts to suffer from cast stagflation with Mei Mei and then Shinobu joining the regular cast.

Rather sad indication that the thing I’m enjoying most right now are Mikoto’s antics. orz
I actually like the fact there’s no big rival for Suzu–it’d be kind of sad to see Ikuto start dithering like Masaki Tenchi between all the girls throwing themselves at him. It’s kind of cool that he likes Suzu and doesn’t really seem to be swayed by any of the other girls, at least as far as I can remember from the manga. But it does make me wonder where they’re going to go with the story, or if it’ll just be island life challenges and Suzu slowly but surely coming to like Ikuto, while he loses enough blood to make a vampire’s dream swimming pool.
I thought the animation quality in ep 6 seemed down a little, though…although no one’s ever going to compare this to Kanon-level quality anyway, so I guess it doesn’t matter all that much.
I’m also quickly losing interest in this series. It’s nice that Ikuto isn’t bleeding quite as much as he used to but given how many times he’s seen Suzu’s naked body, it just doesn’t have the impact it once had.
The tiny bits of shoujo-ai are good but I wonder if it’s enough considering how horrible the drawings are sometimes…..
suguru, I agree that a dithering Ikuto would be irritating. Certainly the central dynamic is that Ikuto actively resists all the girls who want to marry for their own reasons and Suzu is the exception. My personal preference is that the various girls grow to like Ikuto for who he is (rather than just because he is the only penis on the island) and this has a positive effect on Ikuto’s aversion against them (e.g. in the last chapter of Vol.2 btw him and Rin) which, in turn, spurs Ikuto x Suzu development. The pacing now is ok but there’s surprisingly little romantic tension for a harem series and…
as askho points out, the deterioration in the quality of the art is worrying.
I’m hoping ep 6 is just a low point in the animation and it’ll go back up soon. I wouldn’t call it Yoakena bad but you’re right, it’s worrying nonetheless…
Going to drop work early today so I can start to watch this.
