hontou ni sou omou?

I’d normally wait for the subs but am so excited with this episode that I just had to write something up based on the raws and reading jaalin’s post and mewmew’s comments. I really loved how the episode is taking full advantage of the transfer from 4koma format to anime - mostly by extending some of the scenes to their full potential e.g. the Initial D homage and Nanako-sensei doing the horlan.

I was sooo looking forward to this joke as I LMAO when I read it in the manga. Konata is boasting that she doesn’t need to change because she was wearing her swimsuit underneath her clothes. Kagami is in the midst of telling her it’s really childish when she is shocked that Konata is wearing the stereotypical school swimsuit. The kicker is that the swimsuit carries the label for Class ‘6-3′ - it’s Konata’s Elementary 6 swimsuit (my guess since elementary school is the only phase in the Japanese education system that lasts more than five years) which means that she hasn’t grown in the five years or so since (she’s in senior high year two currently).

Not sure this was about. Something about family and sisters [to add later]. But when the previous aerial shot of this scene made me think of the Haruhi and her bunny girl harem poster in Megami Deluxe Vol.8… The fairly long discussion about their different choices of food was also nice - but then again I enjoyed the looooong choco-corone discussion in the first episode. -_-;; Also Miyuki’s loooong explanation about why hair is affected by seawater… I’m actually quite curious to know the details so will be looking forward to the sub.

Damn, I feel old for actually getting this reference to the Timotei advertisement. It was such a bad advert but the jingle just lodged itself in my brain and it’s still there!!

Konata heading back after her soap insertion was so funny. And if you take screencaps, there’s actually copious exposure of her butt. -_-;;

Your face is too close (NOT!). Konata teases Kagami about wanting to get picked up by guys at the beach. Well, there’s always love-love bathing. ;)

Not sure what Kagami realized… is she speculating that Konata is so under-developed that she doesn’t have a regular period?

Great charm-up for Tsukasa. Half expected a Shakugan no Shana parody (the Hecate and Yuuji scene) when she was floating in the water. When she picked up that shell, I was expecting something to come out of it… probably a hermit crab but they really quite evil and used a sea cockroach instead.

Of course, her cry of ‘Oneechan!’ was very cute. Also shows how although Kagami is only older than her by a couple of minutes, she is regarded as Big Sister and fulfills that role really well.

Miyuki’s mom joins the list of Nice Women Who Are Actually Evil - calling on her daughter’s behalf to make an appointment with the dreaded dentist? Can’t wait for Yukari to start terrorising Minami with her fan-girling.
